If the tech I learned and mastered gets me from point A to B, and the users love the results...that's all I need. Read Joel Spolsky's "Fire and Motion" if you have concerns.

At the time Spolsky was writing that he was creating a desktop application in VB6 and C++ (CityDesk). Some times you really do need to move on.
