Sick burn

Thanks guys, this was the best read of the morning.

Gray means the comment was downvoted

Only when you're viewing it from US, in other regions it looks grey

Competitive eaters throw their food up and keep it secret as "I'm just calorie counting" sounds a lot better than "I pretty much have an eating disorder". You can't eat large portions once a week and still train your stomach to stretch enough to eat those gargantuan amounts of food that they need to perform.

Some do this, some go on binge fast cycles. Others just eat the food. It's different for everyone. Binge fast cycles are probably the easiest way to train this though.

I can't take this Luka slander. The guy carried the ungrateful Mavericks team for 6 seasons averaging 35mpg. He's not out of shape. Same thing with Jokic, 10 seasons of 32mpg average. Their mpg also go up in the playoffs.

People need to stop thinking about <10% body fat as the "athletic standard". Some players are super skinny, some players have more mass to them and use it to their advantage.

I do agree with regards to Shaq, the guy coasted in his talent later in his career and let himself go. Had he a better work ethic he could have been in the conversation for one of the greatest players ever.

I'm a Luka fan, but he does look a (hehe) little chubby these past 2 seasons and it has impacted his game noticeably. Just compare the explosiveness from his first seasons to now

Doesn't matter how you look, if you can play those kind of minutes and perform like they do you're in athletic shape. Luka and Jokic don't need to be super slim like Edwards, Morant and Westbrook because they don't rely on supernatural athleticism - they rely on other facets of their game where having a bit more mass is advantageous or at the very least not detrimental.

In any case, Doncic got bullied and embarrassed by Mavs FO's comments about his weight and work ethic(complete lies to try and save face for their terrible and shady trade) so you can look forward to a slimmer Luka next season.

The reason they're called killer whales is because sailors saw them kill whales, so they were called whale killers and then there was a switch of the two terms.

The best resources I found for hunting auroras are:

- Met Office Space Weather - https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/specialist-forecasts/sp...

- Aurora Alerts Glendale App - https://aurora-alerts.uk/

Both are free and give good results, you can even install the Glendale app on your phone as a PWA(Chrome for best results, Firefox doesn't work as well) and set it to notify you when a potential aurora is about to happen.

The met office space weather is good for an overview of when one might see activity and the Glendale is superb at short-term predictions(as accurate as those can be with auroras).

When it's our side o propaganda getting promoted and the other side censored it's "start your own platform, private companies don't owe you anything". When it's our side of propaganda getting censored it's "death of free speech".

Has nothing to do with fat people not understanding thermodynamics and has everything to do with not being able to follow the simple principle and looking for shortcuts instead.

A diet that doesn't take into account the factors that lead someone to overeat is useless by definition. If "most people can't follow this simple principle" then evidently it's a useless principle. Unless the goal is to point fingers to feel better about yourself, in which case it's pretty useful.

What are you talking about? If you eat a diet that has the required number of calories and nutrients designed for a healthy-weight person, your body weight will drop accordingly.

The factors that lead someone to overeat is a totally different question the answer to which should be figured out by themselves or maybe their psychologist. In most cases it's not that dire though, once their initial withdrawal from fast food stops people stop having these impulses to reach for a doughnut each time they're inconvenienced. In any case, your problems in life should be treated by dealing with the problems directly and not making themselves feel better by stuffing their face.

> If you eat a diet that has the required number of calories and nutrients designed for a healthy-weight person, your body weight will drop accordingly.

Thanks for explaining thermodynamics to me, I guess?

> once their initial withdrawal from fast food stops people stop having these impulses to reach for a doughnut each time they're inconvenienced

Statistically, most people who try to eat less fail to do it. Why do you think you don't you have the impulse to reach for a donut each time you're inconvenienced?

I guess it's more comfortable to just call them lazy, but it's utterly useless and un-actionable at a societal and personal level. Diets have to be all about managing the sensation of hunger while maintaining such a caloric deficit. CICO amounts to "Just eat less lol"

> Statistically, most people who try to eat less fail to do it.

Yep, because the secret is simple, not easy. Whereas people want to find some high-tech wunderwaffen arcane diet that will be hyper complex but easy to follow and will lead to effortless results.

There was this documentary on yt[0] where a fitness model gained lots of weight on purpose to lose it, and even he had mood swings and initially had problems with following his diet regimen when it was time to lose the weight. But point still stands, if you stick with the diet your weight will drop.

I'm gonna ignore this whole "fitness model gaining weight on purpose" because I don't even know how to respond to you thinking this is somehow relevant. What it does show me is that you're quite unwilling to imagine yourself in others' shoes.

I'm not continuing this conversation, but let me just tell you: if you don't feel a strong impulse, you don't need that much self-control to not act upon it. So you should think about what's actually so different about you compared to all those fat people.

Ok, best of luck to you on your journey

Seems like you're saying exactly what parent comment is saying.

What's notable is that despite its ferocity and danger, according to the wiki section only one recorded death. Must be similar to free soloing in rock climbing where only the most competent dare to do it so the number of deaths is fewer than you'd have thought considering the risk.

It's even more nerve wracking when you watch surfers wipe out on big waves where you need jetskis to get on the wave and then again to get out of the pounding zone of the later waves of the set. Sometimes the jetskis just can't get to them in time and you see the surfer getting put in an extreme wash cycle mode one time after the other until the ocean decides that they're done with them.
