The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago and the second best time is now. I for one will be moving off Reddit to the fediverse. Is it as good as Reddit?... no, but it could be better.
I always thought reddit was smarter than this. They were really born out of the ashes of digg and for a long time they remembered that. At this point they're in decline I don't think the bleeding will stop. Lots of young people already had a negative view of reddit and now redditors have a negative view of reddit too. I hope we can make a home in the fediverse I'm tired of giving my data to large corps with no recourse.
I believe the plain theme put a lot of the shitmunchers off for a long time. But we can't have nice things, so the reddit owners had to try to make it like all other shitty social media (starting with the redesign - echoes of Digg there).
Couldn't they just not tell the percipient what they were testing. Then you wouldn't know that someone else had a mask or didn't. That would remove the placebo effect.
I'll be the minority here and say for me it is the current ultimate gaming machine. I love that it runs Linux. It's convenient, runs my already purchased library of games and is consumer friendly for modding. On the other hand my PS5 is gathering dust.
I knew this would shutdown from launch. Even so, I'm becoming less & less likely to trust Google products. Funny they are even refunding game purchases, the right thing to do, but it's still burning brand capital for me. I used to be a huge google fan. I'm typing this on a Google pixel, but I'm reconsidering all Google products I use

- is android
- is small
- has a headphone jack
- has a great camera(on the back)
- has a removable SD card
- has a removable battery
Currently, my next phone will be a Sony as it checks more boxes than any other phone.
