If those are the issues you're concerned about then I don't think a Pirate Party is actually helpful.
But it's an interesting question: if you want a certain type of political change are you better off forming a crazy extremist group or a modest mainstream one?
I think the extremists are more effective. While people don't take them as seriously, they do move the balance of the discussion. It's like a see-saw {balance}. Where do you put a limited weight to have the maximum effect. Groups like The Sierra Club were ignored or seen as pretty fringe, until groups like Earth First came onto the scene.
You can get the game without steam installed (though you do need to sign up for an account on-line and you may need to give your CC info), so you may as well "purchase" it now. Worst case you never get to play it and are out 5 minutes of your time.

How does this work? I don't see anything but a big red button that downloads Steam.
At what point in the process does this happen to you? You should be able to add Portal to your cart, at which point it'll ask you to create an account. After you've registered you can then checkout. It shouldn't ever force you download steam.
And just so there's no misunderstanding, I didn't mean you can play the game without the steam, I meant you can purchase games without steam.
Originally, I got the Big Red Button upon clicking on the provided link; but, right now, the linked page is blank for me.
Anyway, I went ahead and downloaded the Steam client, so it's not a big deal. I remember the original web-based preview (or rip-off?) of Portal quite fondly; Lore Sjöberg linked to it somewhere from his vast empire.
I would not buy one based on what I've learned so far. Having a dongle for 3G connectivity seems like a bad design decision. The storage seems anemic, at just 2gb, and the main memory being 256mb makes me wonder why I would want to get rid of my old N800 for this.
It would be acceptable if the dongle was in an internal or snap-in bay of some sort, so that it could not accidentally become dislodged and did not mar the shape of the device.
Yes, right. The main selling point of this device, is the small size, that makes it really easy to carry in your pocket. Also as mentioned in previus comments in this thread, the 3G dongle is designed to be as smallest as possible. Regarding the anemic storage, you can always upgrade it with T-Flash. And the RAM memory is good enough to run smoothly with any application. Thanks for your comment.
Also, there IS a Pirate Party for the US: http://www.pirate-party.us/news.php
