Haha will do

Can certainly put one up, thanks for the tip

Definitely a good thing to cover, thanks. You may have seen this already but this is the best resource on this topic https://home.treasury.gov/system/files/136/StableCoinReport_...

Nice to see you are well informed.

Based on your reference, I'd say a decision by the SEC to simply audit stable coins would likely collapse the crypto market and could easily trigger a wide market "rug pull" from the exchanges.

In the interest of full disclosure, you may want to just mention this possibility to the beginners.

Oh jheeze thanks! Will fix that

Should be fixed now!

Yep looks much better!

Aha okay noted

there is definitely a masculine toxic theme in the crypto culture (especially in the Wallstreet* scene).

Not saying your site pushes that, just that the scene has that culture around it and hodl is a part of that culture by association.

Yes and sites like Crypto Panic! What I wanted to do was focus on building a community with quality discussions, as opposed to (in some cases) the homepage being filled with information about daily price moves

And you call it hodler news? I get that finding a good name is difficult but hodlernews? Is it because it almost sounds like hackernews?

Crypto has many interesting things. Hodling and price movements, while perhaps the most lucrative, are also the least interesting. At least, from a curiosity point of view.

Names I would think of are more like:

Blockchainthreads

Blockshardnews

I am not fully hitting the mark, but basically a more technical name or a sociocultural name that doesn’t sound too mainstream (I have a hard time thinking of one).

I'd guess that if you're hodling you don't care so much about charts and are looking further into the future.

Thanks so much!

Hi All, I build side projects occasionally, and thought that something like this was needed! Would love to know your thoughts :)

This is very nice, thanks for creating this! I think there's a lot of potential in the space of news aggregator sites that focus on cryptocurrency and it's very cool to see people exploring this space.

Here's my two cents:

* Tie in the signup, voting, etc. with actual cryptocurrency. This is what stacker.news (SN) [0] does and I think is an idea with a lot of potential.

* Put the comments and other content under a libre/free license so that the community can benefit from content generated. HN, SN and a host of other sites don't do this and are worse for it, in my opinion

* Make the code open source. This provides transparency to your community and builds trust, as well as allows others to participate in the direction if they choose

* This is more of a personal preference, but I would opt for a "cleaner" more minimal look, more akin to HN or SN.

All interesting points thank you. I don't know much about the free licenses point, but will certainly look into it

Kind of on topic: Dare I ask, is there anything “web3” about your site? I ask out of curiosity, but also since it seems like a great opportunity to leverage…uh…whatever the hell is behind that term.

Off topic: what stack? What drove your decisions?

Haha there is nothing currently "web3" about this, but that's subject to change! Stack: Ruby on rails What drove that decision? I like coding in ruby, I'm quite familiar with it and wanted to be able to iterate on something quickly

I think your biggest challenge will be building/maintaining a community, along with basic moderation and forum rules. Definitely watching to see how it goes!

Hi All!

I'm looking to create a community of like-minded junior developers. I have everything set up, but am only allowing people to join the waiting list until we have a critical mass of members, at which point we will go live!

Kind Regards, Sunny

Hi All, I'm a junior developer trying to work on some side projects and learn to code. I built this project in rails, and this is my most complex project so far, incorporating payments, multi-tenancy and things of that nature. Any Feedback welcome!
