Looks like this is in response to this post over on the KDE subreddit.

Wow, a script was able to run that basically wiped the user's system? That's crazy!

Someone dug into an archive of the code, looks like a bad script:

Thanks, more interesting than the article.

Thank you. Posting subscription-only links on here is not very helpful.

There're sayings about evil: evil by ignorance is bad, but willful evil with full knowledge and understanding is profoundly bad.

I seriously wonder if Satya Nadella is aware of how much harm Microsoft has caused the world, or if he ignorantly lives in a bubble where everyone around him tells him how wonderful Microsoft is, and how their work is somehow "helping" the world.

Microsoft has screwed up every attempt they've made at creating new communities or participating in existing communities, because they can't help but want to own the standards, which they then use to try to punish competitors. No matter how many accidentally reasonable products and services they have, nothing that comes from them should ever be trusted. They only care about money, although they're now slightly more aware of the bigger picture in ways that help them make more money in the long run.

Those people do not care about such things. The only thing they care about is money. If they have to step on cadavers, this is just collateral damage. Open source is communism ( Balmer) ? As long as it brings us money we love it ( Nadella).

Arstechnica has an agreement to republish some FT.com without need to subscribe. Still the HN bot marks these as dupe, favoring the paywall links at FT which are really [dead] to many people.
