How much and which brand do you take?

Not sure what he’s doing but this should help:

http://fellrnr.com/wiki/Magnesium

I use this[0] not every day because I’ll get muscle spasms unless I eat a lot of calcium, but a few times a week seems to make a big difference.

Weird I take magnesium to prevent muscle cramps. I don’t supplement calcium at all.

I was under the impression that cramps are from an imbalance of potassium, calcium and magnesium. Supplementing the one you are lacking generally resolves the problem, but its hard to know for an individual without trial and error unless you are 100% sure of your diet.

I mentioned in passing to a nurse at my gym that I get calf cramps from running. She told me to get a supplement from Amazon called Calm. It eliminated the cramps, and after an especially rough squat workout I used to get cramps, it also took care of that. Although you need to be very careful with the dosage, it is basically a laxative.

If you're getting muscle spams, are you really "supplementing"?

Yes.

Just like if you take some extra Zinc (30mg-50mg picolinate) for a variety of reasons - you have to take a bit of copper with it, or eventually your copper supplies will be drained and start causing issues.

I’m not 100% sure if it was zinc but I supplemented zinc for like a week then had the worst constipation of my entire life. Like, wife had to run to the pharmacy to resolve it while I cried in agony sort of bad. So yeah, be careful with how you supplement!

I'd like to hope most people are careful in how they supplement, and do due diligence as necessary.

Unfortunately, I know how people actually operate. It's quite depressing.

This is only tangentially related, but because you are all leaning on this pyramid analogy so hard, I thought I would mention that many scholars now believe the pyramids to have been built by some type of salaried (and very skilled) labor. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_pyramid_constructio...

I've been interested in type theory for a while, but haven't found a good avenue for getting into it.

Could people here list any resources on type theory that comes to there mind? Books, blogs, people, etc. A book that explains the fundamentals would be great.

While not being exactly about type theory like Pierce books (you can't waste your money on those), I really like the part about types in "The Implementation of Functional Programming Languages" by Peyton Jones (the chapters about type system are written by Peter Hancock). It's seen mostly from a technical point of view. The book notably contains a fully explained implementation of a type checker.

You can check it online while waiting for the Pierson ones: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/people/simonpj/papers...

Sorry for the ambiguity. It's certainly not a waste of money. I found "Types and Programming Languages" really good (for whatever that means, I'm far from being an authority in the subject). It seems to be wildly used as a textbook and is a reference in the subject. While I didn't read it, I expect the second one to be in the same vein.

By "can't waste your money" do you mean that buying them is not a waste of money or that I shouldn't waste my money on them?

Also, thanks for the link to the article.

> I don't know why GPU manufacturers are so paranoid.

I've read the reason for the paranoia around GPU drivers has something to do with modern GPUs needing so much controlling software in the driver that the competition could glean details of the hardware design from the driver source code.

I'm unable to find the source of this information. Can anyone privy to these sorts of details confirm or deny this?

Well, I didn't even mean source code (although that would be great.) It's hard enough just to find binary GL blobs that you're legally allowed to pass around.

With respect to the source code, I suspect you're right - and I'd also suspect FUD around the possibility of patent issues when other people can see more of how things are implemented. But IANAL or a GPU manufacturer so I'm just guessing.

I consider moving a business from WiFi to wired ethernet a challenge. If the business was larger than micro (25+ employees) and renting office space, then converting from WiFi to wired ethernet could pose some problems.

Your suggestion of idiocy is neither warranted nor considerate.

If the reason for it being a challenge is "large business" then you could define so many easy things as a challenge.

The way it was worded in the article didn't suggest "it took a lot of work because it was such a big network they were having to upgrade", it was "some people found themselves unable to use the network and found themselves with the challenge of having to buy a new router".

While perhaps a little mean to call it idiocy, wouldn't you agree that, if an ISP sells a gig connection to a user, and the user ends up not having the correct home networking equipment to make use of it, one or both parties ought to have seen that coming?

If Apple allows writable and executable memory blocks in the future on iOS then LuaJIT has a good chance of becoming a good alternative to Objective-C.

Do you simply mix cocoa with cold water?

No, hot water. Plus Honey if you need a sweetener. Milk works too. Also if you'd rather eat cocoa than drink it, I would order bulk organic cocoa nibs rather than processed sugarified chocolate bars.

[ If you want to get fancy I'm sure you could order raw cocoa beans and roast them like you do coffee beans ]
