I agree with this, definitely have seen this with the culture of the early R&D team at Genentech, where a number of the early employees had these attributes right from the beginning. I have reread the book below numerous times, which I recommend, which discuss the dual nature for being both a founder & researcher, having an incredible long-term vision that seems to be almost impossible, but remaining very focused in the short term. "Genentech: The Beginnings of Biotech (Synthesis)" by Sally Smith Hughes (https://www.amazon.com/Genentech-Beginnings-Sally-Smith-Hugh...)

Congrats Nate! Really glad to see you doing well post JudoJobs, forwarding this along to a few people who are into self-publishing technical books. Accounting for taxes on self-publishing just seems to be something you need to be careful about if you are selling via a few different channels like gumroad so you aren't audited.

eh - and what is that supposed to show? That there's roughly 13.000 projects that vendored a version of activesupport containing a file that allows converting "48600" to a rational value?
Really great insight. Being part of an accelerator program/tv show/pageant shouldn't be all that matters. It should be about building real businesses that solve actual problems the founders can relate with. Not building just a feature.
