I think the conversation needs to change a bit. People just don't care in the current state. I've been toying with the idea of calling all this (seo/ads/blogspam/content marketing and the auto-twitter-bot-ira-shill-to-cause-controversy-and-mass-media-parroting-it-feedback-loop) "internet pollution" in order to get average joes to think about it differently.
Anyone in the tech industry, which is Hacker News' target audience, knows what PWA means.
And it's gaining ubiquity outside the industry as well; a search via Qwant (so not personalized) tells you that it stands for Progressive Web Application. The only other contender for the front page is Public Works Administration, which isn't remotely applicable.
Sometimes I leave random/joking comments around my code if I've been in a rabbit hole for a long time and end up with a preposterously simple and elegant solution. I erupted with laughter a couple days ago seeing "# i fink yo freaky and i like u a lot" in the middle of some brambles I was untying.
