> support the people who care enough to use your project.

You make that sound like they are helping the developer. The help is going the other way, it seems to me.

If consumers stop buying gas guzzlers, the impact of personal transportation on the climate will reduce. Are you suggesting the 1% controls the minds of the 99% to do things that are harmful to the environment? Past some point, there is at least some level of personal responsibility?

Several car companies had plans to stop making ICE cars at some point in the near future. Everyone stopped buying their cars and they have had to backtrack (e.g. Porsche). We have all collectively decided that environmentalism is hot air (tee hee) and we'll just continue with business as usual.

Your car and fellow road users' cars generally have your life, your passengers' lives, and other road users' lives in its hands while in use.

Well, I see how, especially for people who are close to death and want to provide for their loved ones, the answer to "Your money or your life" might lean in the other direction.

My car probably could be hacked to murder me in secret but frankly I'm not worth expending that kind of access on.

The threat model is really very different.

Someone somewhere knows though.

Implications are straightforward. You are giving unfettered access to your digital life to a software system that is vulnerable to the normal vulnerabilities plus social engineering vulnerabilities because it is attempting to use human language, and the way you prevent those is apparently writing sternly worded markdown files that we hope it won't ignore.

Why not use the unlimited free energy on terrestrial data centers then? You can use solar power as we speak, no?

Because the sun hides at night. Scientists have yet to figure out where he goes. Until that happens it’s not a great power source.

Overprovision solar and add batteries for the night, then. Whatever amount of money and effort is required to make space data centers feasible (launching, cooling, etc) cannot possibly be lower than just building solar powered terrestrial data centers + batteries or alternative power sources. It is just not as sexy a story to sell to investors as magic space computers.

What do the satellites do in earth's shadow?

Polar orbit. We’re already doing this.

What do they do in earth's shadow in a polar orbit?

Avoid it as much as possible. They'll circle the earth around an axis approximately in line with the earth-sun vector. In practice they might see some eclipse, but only for a small percentage of their orbit.

What do they do during that eclipse?

Sleep.

Probably not, but it looks a hell of a lot harder to understand than a unit file.

Huh? Not even remotely

It's probably straightforward for someone who works with it. For a newb like me, it needs effort to understand. I think unit files are self-documenting and straightforward to understand the first time you see them.

The X people are the Wayland people, it's not an external occupying force.

The Wayland people are not the people that created X, those are for the most part retired.

Does that matter?

What's the actual reason then?

There's 200 other people on the flight that think this plane is going to crash instead of thinking this plane is going to land safely and a ransom is going to occur.

Prior to 9/11 hijackings were rare but still occurred with everybody living [1]. There is a notable truncation in the list after 9/11 of incidents per decade (across the world; so nothing special about TSA).

Locking the door of the cockpit, actual on the ground policing in terms of monitoring terror cells.

Better cooperation between intelligence and law enforcement agencies

There's Farmcraft101 if you are interested in DIY builds and repairs. There was a series of videos repairing an excavator from scrap to finish, and he is currently doing a series of videos adding hydro generation to a pond. Interesting metal fabrication, hydraulics, power, etc content.

Farmcraft101 is my absolute favorite channel right now. I can’t wait for fridays when he puts out a new video. I found him a couple of months ago and binge watched all his playlists.

That sounds pretty interest, I'll take a look!
