It's kinder to people, especially kind people.

absolutely not

"Kind" people is a shibboleth. "I'm kind to kind people" = I'm looking for an excuse to not be nice to someone.

Virtually nobody uses mail via web browser on phones, the primary computing device of the world right now.

If people are using their phones then they are using their email service's app to check their mail. Not Thunderbird.

> the primary computing device of the world right now.

Whether this is true or not depends a lot on which the bubble is that you live in.

Great app. I hope next iPhones have improved slow-motion camera modes. 1000fps will be a long shot but maybe 480/500fps.

These are HTML <video> controls. You can right-click and set a speed.

Not providing official support != Restricting.

Valve does still provide official support for Steam, even if you run it on a different set of HW or distribution.

Not providing official support for random hardware seems reasonable. Neither do Microsoft nor Apple.

Or you can get a community distribution with the same set of packages with +/- QoL patches or a different base: ChimeraOS or Bazzite.

I think this is actually an outdated link. Modern SteamOS is based on Arch Linux, this refers to the old Debian-based OS from the "Steam Machines" era.

Looks like this will get a refresh, though, as per my other comment.

It's a very interesting observation. IMO people who just use want to use their computer for browser and email stuff are the easiest to migrate to Linux.

People who just use want to use their computer for browser and email stuff don't need a pc, they need a smartphone dock for a display and keyboard.

It's the first beta. There is time before it even makes into rolling distros.

The initial reception is good though. Works the same as before which is great for a full rewrite.

That's Win+Space.

Ah yes. That's what I get for touch-typing... Thanks.

As another fan of Kakoune's model of editing (or model of modal editing), I would recommend Helix. It's a low-config tool that lets you start working without turning many knobs. Supports tree-sitter grammars and language server protocol.

I haven't heard of either Kakoune or Helix, but I'm buried pretty deep in my own opinionated config.

As far as I'm concerned, the more readymade options, the better. Thanks to you and sevensor for adding recommendations!
