I'm surprised that no one talked about Thread going out of business. Thread.com was once selected by Y Combinator as one of the 20 most promising startups. They raised £2 million on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube in 2018. It had the goal to provide a personalised shopping service by combining AI with a personal styling service. This week Kieran & Ben announced that they sold their AI, data and developers to M&S and the rest went into administration. The website says that if you placed the order, you should do a Chargeback through credit card. Is AI not ready for the fashion industry? Did you use Thread? If yes, what was your experience?
EU governments and telcos spy on you by law. 10 years ago there was a law across entire EU that forced telecom companies to store the position and call numbers of users for the past 6 months. Germany got even fined because it did not implement the law.
And of course, the police have been caught abusing this data. Data acquired this way is likely to get to you in another type of cases: divorce proceedings often use this sort of data as well, and it's been used in trade disputes too.
Given that all that already happens with cellphone data, what's the point of doing anything about it at this point ?
Hey, your startup is really good and I'm pretty sure it will be a hit. I have been thinking to implement such a system myself and I have done plenty of basic research on this topic. The idea comes at the right time.
