I think they look more like eyes or portals. I guess you see what's on your mind.

Even the Claude one? :)

The rules make it so every new tetris release is just a boring clone. TGM has to fight for innovation, really sad. When I made my four player variant, https://duo.itch.io/reaktor I made sure to follow NONE of the guideline rules, and it ended up being a breath of fresh air for a lot of people. https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/1fdzcsc/how_i_publ...

Tengent: how's the steam deck compatibility? Reaktor looks fun but it's the only game device I currently use (I'm keeping my laptop strictly game-free)

EDIT: top steam review says the reviewer primarily plays the game on their Steam Deck, so I guess it's good

Lotta people playing on the deck. Hoping to port to switch one day. Local multiplayer would be awesome.

It's a meme at this point. People who don't know anything about programming (lex fridman): "It's revolutionary. People with no programming skills can create entire apps." People who program for a living: "It can reproduce variants of code that have been implemented already 1000s of times, and... nothing else".

I love beavers!! They don’t just build the dams, but the also change the rivers into special types of ponds that their favorite food grows in (green leafy shoots). So they don’t just build a house but also a farm! So cool!!!

Are there any good sites like this for game music?

OpenGameArt has a section for music[0], itch.io also has a bunch of free music assets[1], but do check the license before using them. I use these often and there's some surprisingly great tracks there.

I’ve used music from Kevin MacLeod [0] and Heatly Bros [1] in projects.

https://luckylionstudios.com has a ton of royalty-free music, it’s not free, but it’s cheap enough it basically is.

Asianometry has a good one on this. They’ve become dependent on US software (and hardware), and programming is considered a low prestige job.

Today I learned that mitochondria are the only organelles that replicate “on their own” inside a cell, while the other organelles just bud off the preexisting ones. I wonder how they are signaled to do so though.

Reminds me of sea slugs that eat plants and then integrate their chloroplasts to produce energy, or my dad who kept swapping the same Honda motor through all our go karts because it was too good to get rid of.

Would be great to tape the whole picture inside the passport. I’m sure the passport officials could use a good chuckle. … or you’ll go to jail.

Yeah, like why would anyone want to revive toxic potatoes.

because it's a unique taste , a unique method, and a cultural significance for some people -- no one is forcing you to eat it.

Why would anyone eat fugu or collect wild mushrooms?

It's fun and interesting. That's why. Danger be damned.

> Why would anyone eat fugu or collect wild mushrooms?

I can't speak to fugu, but collecting wild mushrooms is statistically one of the safest hobbies in existence.

It's the eating that's the real challenge

The danger is part of the appeal. When somebody gives you a mushroom called "the sickener," which is apparently edible with an appropriate combination of brining, fermentation, soaking, rinsing, and boiling, it's a little hard to resist the temptation to prove everyone else wrong and turn it into a tasty treat.

Brings fugu to mind. I wish I could get a scientific answer to whether there's actually a high associated with it or if that's just in people's heads.

This is strange, probably not fun to play. I think an exploded view (t shape) on the computer would be cool.
