I love pages that scrolls to the top each three seconds!

imagine if all those packages would need to be transported as well. Like with boat or by air. What if we used this quality engineering towards solving real problems instead? Like how to decrease pollution or something along those lines…

If only.....the banks believe it's a better investment to destroy the planet. Let's not even mention the hubris of tech companies.

Who’s gaining traffic right now? Is it just Reddit and a few others that has caught the traffic from this implosion or is the volumes of searches shrinking due to perhaps AI?

See the bar chart in the article, third image (don't know if hotlinking works): https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/1024xn/p0j04fnt.jpg.webp

Probably besides the ones gaining more traftic, you're probably right the overall click-through rate will be vastly lower than it was before quote answers appeared, and now probably ever lower with the generated text answers

Google is imploding under AI

I thought freedom of speech was a foundational thing in the US.

But I guess anyone could be silenced with enough economic incentive?

Freedom of speech in regard to public institutions. For private entities/individuals, any contract you willingly sign will reign supreme over whatever this "freedom of speech" thing is unless there's written law that explicitly forbids the forms of retaliation described within said contracts.

That’s a whole lot of code to not have to learn 10 keystrokes.

Unless of course the modal editor everyone is talking about has its most important key, i.e. the mode changing key, the furthest away possible from your fingers because of an historical accident and none of its users are talking about it and are smug about how easy it is so easy to learn a bunch of commands instead of mentioning the issue

You must be kidding. This thread is full of comments about remapping ESC to Caps Lock and other amenities like that.

My top level comment started the thread where most of them are

Recently read “The Art of not Giving a Fuck”, which might be a good book for people relating to the feelings that the author expresses.

How come you published this article on a subscription based service?

Love it, same old paul graham propaganda, of course Reddit hasn’t peaked even if the graph resembles the one right next to it :) I think pg peaked some 5 years ago.

But the main topic, has google search peaked. Yes it has. The amounts of ads vs great relevant search results peaked some time ago.

Since early 2018 it’s forbidden to use a phone while driving in Sweden. https://www.trafikverket.se/resa-och-trafik/trafiksakerhet/D...

Thanks for the link. This seems to be a ban on holding a phone. (As in the UK already https://www.gov.uk/using-mobile-phones-when-driving-the-law)
