I've found that writing in LyX is faster than writing in Microsoft Word and friends. It forces you to focus on content (hence the WYSIWYM) and greatly accelerates equation entry with keyboard shortcuts and live preview.
Actually, my mid-2014 13" rMBP randomly reboots on High Sierra, even on a clean install. It leaves no trace of anything in any logs. I had to downgrade to Sierra.
It's easy to see in retrospect that the beginning of bitcoin would've been a good place to throw in some meaningless quantities of cash, but I think once you divide by the number of small, potential investments you could make that wouldn't have made you money, and subtract the amount of time commitment to keep track of those investments, the outcome is less appealing.
(Obviously, some people knew it was about explode, but I'm looking at everything you hear your kid, or a co-worker giving you hot tips about, which was the boat I was in and it sounds like this kid's dad was in).

you couldn't do that. Because you're deploying the GPUs for other purposes besides blockchain processing 99% of the time. What you could do, is write a very trivial blockchain and Have it require a couple of ledger entries that are DL "input data/gradient". Hard to argue what exactly constitutes "processing". This way, every cycle of the software is dedicated in some way to the blockchain.
