I've found that writing in LyX is faster than writing in Microsoft Word and friends. It forces you to focus on content (hence the WYSIWYM) and greatly accelerates equation entry with keyboard shortcuts and live preview.

I'm getting 30-60 FPS (depending on the scene) on my iPhone 5s, so even more impressive.

Actually, my mid-2014 13" rMBP randomly reboots on High Sierra, even on a clean install. It leaves no trace of anything in any logs. I had to downgrade to Sierra.

Oh boy... I told my dad to buy at $8, $27, $200, $2000, $3000, $6000, and $12000. None of these times has he actually taken any action. :(

If only I turned 18 a couple years earlier...

Your dad is a wise man!

On the other hand, if he had put in $8 at $8, he'd have $16,000 today.

It's easy to see in retrospect that the beginning of bitcoin would've been a good place to throw in some meaningless quantities of cash, but I think once you divide by the number of small, potential investments you could make that wouldn't have made you money, and subtract the amount of time commitment to keep track of those investments, the outcome is less appealing.

(Obviously, some people knew it was about explode, but I'm looking at everything you hear your kid, or a co-worker giving you hot tips about, which was the boat I was in and it sounds like this kid's dad was in).

Buying at $8 would be easy. Not selling at $200 would be hard. Not selling at $2000 would be even harder.

Alternatively, you could simply have your GPUs calculate a few hashes every hour. So technically, you're doing blockchain processing...very slowly...

They don't care. But more importantly, courts won't care. Your compute is all tainted and has the wrong colour, due to your intent of working around the licensing restrictions.

you couldn't do that. Because you're deploying the GPUs for other purposes besides blockchain processing 99% of the time. What you could do, is write a very trivial blockchain and Have it require a couple of ledger entries that are DL "input data/gradient". Hard to argue what exactly constitutes "processing". This way, every cycle of the software is dedicated in some way to the blockchain.

The controversy is that it is unclear whether every Tether is backed by real USD. See: Tether's TOS, Bitfinex's banking issues, etc.

I found this article on the matter very interesting: https://medium.com/@untetheredbtc/how-the-tether-usdt-distri...

uBlock Origin is your friend.

that doesn't seem to be blocking all of these

try adding uMatrix as well or enable more of the blocking lists available in uBlock

It might take days or weeks using an average laptop to mine the equivalent of a cup of coffee.

It may at least affray the WiFi costs.

I recently upgraded to High Sierra on my MacBook, and I had random reboot problems: https://discussions.apple.com/message/32649321

Downgrading to Sierra fixed it... I still don't know what was causing the reboots.
