The AI generated thumbnail, https://devblogs.microsoft.com/azure-sql/wp-content/uploads/..., is that of young Harry and friend with a prominent MS logo. Wow

AI is always bad at trains, I'm sure if the picture was wider there would be no gangway.

lying to federal officers is what nailed Martha Stewart

lol, im on 7.3.x for extra safety

I am so happy that MSVC added 128 bit integers to their standard library in order to do ranges distance of uint64_t iota views. One type alias away from int128's on most machines running gcc/clang/msvc

There are some examples of companies that scaled really well in Canada but move to the US subsequently for better access to their market. Shopify is the first example that comes to mine.

Shopify hasn’t moved to the US any more than Toyota has.

Oh wow, thanks. I thought they moved to the US.

The model of communicating errors with exceptions is really nice. The implementation in C++ ABI's is not done as well as it could be and that results in large sad path perf loss.

C++ exceptions are fast for happy path and ABI locked for sad path. They could be much faster than they are currently. Khalil Estell did a few talks/bunch of work on the topic and saw great improvements. https://youtu.be/LorcxyJ9zr4

Oops, I meant they are ABI locked so sad path cannot be fixed.

From the article: "Marc Prokosch, an attorney representing the family, said the family had an active asylum case and shared paperwork showing the father and son had arrived to the US at a port of entry, meaning an official crossing point. The family did everything they were supposed to in accordance with how the rules have been set out,” he said. “They did not come here illegally. They are not criminals.” He said there was no order of deportation against them and he believes the father and son have remained together in detention."

Sounds like they followed the rules and laws. Homeland Security calls everyone they detain illegal aliens but doesn't have to prove that either.

Not just buy vote, coerce votes

Better is subjective here. Vancouver will be a bit different with it's warmer weather, but for the week or two at -30C to -40C(like I get) it provides a lot more heat at a lower price and in Canada, at least Ontario, it is still much cheaper to heat a home and water with. I'll probably go heat pump if my boiler goes as I can avoid the cost of adding ductwork(really expensive these days and more than furnace for install) and get A\C too.
