I enjoyed this article. The part about helping other people reminded me of Randy Pausch's Last Lecture and what he said about enabling the dreams of others: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

That was a great video. I watched it a few months ago, which inspired me to write this blog post too. Thanks for the link!

Does it make a call to every cellphone in range?

That would be a cool way to spam.

First of all, what does "physical impossibility of the future" mean? I find this an absurd title, not that I expect anything better from TC.

My favourite quote (about wifi):

Sure, it’s destroyed lunch conversation and pub trivia but,
in common with anyone who hit their 20s or 30s in the 2000s,
I’d happily swap either of those for the ability to book a
flight from the back of a cab, or to consult Wikipedia from
  the toilet.
I'm gonna go back to ignoring links to TC, however an option to filter certain sites from HN would be most welcome.

It's a jocular reference to the piece The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living by Damien Hirst.

Way too many geeks use that for 4 digit codes.

You last point is exactly why I avoid OpenID authentication.

Buying typo domains is good if:

1. You have a lot of money.

2. You might be a phishing target.

3. There's an affiliate program on the non-typo domain.

It's a good idea to try to buy the most popular typos, you can get an idea if you check the search query frequency for each typo (try the Adwords Keywords tool) or you can "kite" a bunch of typo domains and delete non-performing ones before you have to pay for them.

Smart guys make typos too.

"But overall, MongoDB is probably well-suited for a lot of web applications -- maybe as many as 50%."

Found this at the end of the article, made me chuckle.

My favourite part of the article:

"Dreamweaver was attempting to be helpful, but the moment it reformatted my code, I threw a fit. YOU TOUCHED MY CODE."
