I wonder what this means for users of Australian services who reside outside of Australia? For example I live in the US and use Fastmail as well as some Atlassian products.
>What makes dollars unique is that if you inject more dollars into the free market for a good, then ceteris paribus, you will cause more of that good to be produced.
If the video card shortage has taught us anything, it's that this is not always true.
I think you need to factor in timeframes here. The demand shock for silicon started less than 2 years ago. The time it takes to bring a fab online is much longer than that. More of the goods will be produced eventually, but the market can't materialize it out of thin air.
I certainly hope that is the case, but I remember the Nvidia CEO (it has been a while so things may be different now) saying they would not increase production because they were worried the demand surge was temporary. So long as crypto is profitable I don't see where any amount of production increase is going to stabilize the price. Maybe Ethereum PoS will fix this? Or will another PoW cryptocurrency just take its place?
Really strange decision to make in the middle of a pandemic. You would think they would be encouraging activities which enable social distancing, not banning them.
The Chinese government was able to control the pandemic because they are authoritarian. Meanwhile Florida just received 14 portable morgues.
Before I get the "Fake News" crowd coming at me...I was on a video conference call last week with my Chinese counterparts in my company (my first meeting) and I was taken aback when everyone in the conference room didn't have masks...then I remember their spread is basically nill.
I mean the virus came from China so I guess they didn't do that great of a job of controlling it. Not only that but can we really trust the numbers China is reporting? They have been completely non-compliant with investigations which could have resulted in saved lives. Lots of people (most?) in the US seem to have the same brazen attitude of not wearing masks in crowded spaces. Not long ago CDC was advising that people who are fully vaccinated don't need to wear masks in crowded public spaces.
COVID have been under control for a long time in CN, there’s lambda outbreak here and there, but most of them are eliminated fast. Giant exhibition have been hold for more than a year now. And CN is getting kids back to school
US is also getting kids back to school but that doesn't mean the virus is under control here. At this point I don't think there is much of a reason to believe anything China is reporting to the rest of the world.
Most of the corps are back to their 996 schedules, this includes low tier, manual heavy sweatshops. you can ask people who have contact in China, they will all tell you the same thing.
Knowing COVID, it's not possible "fake" it at this scale nor this long. They had COVID in control, more or less.
You're claiming that tenant protection laws are the reason apartments are kept empty? That seems like a pretty tall claim. Why would someone even continue to own a space that they feel they can't rent out because they disagree with the laws? Speculation on future prices is the only reason I can think of. Introduce a tax penalty for units/buildings vacant longer than X months. There would be more incentive for property owners to lease out units if it was costly not to do so. Eroding protections for the most vulnerable class of people doesn't seem like the best way to reduce upwards market pressure on something that basically everyone needs to survive.
My significant other owned a 2011 MBP and experienced the same thing... She didn't know about the recall and I didn't get a chance to investigate and find out until after the recall window was closed. I can't really avoid using a Mac for work, but for personal use it has definitely trained me to avoid Apple products when at all possible. She would concur with you that her 2011 MBP was a terrible investment.
Agreed... 2019 MBP here and the touchbar went toast in less than a year. At this point I'll never purchase an Apple product for personal use unless my hands are tied.
I tried this multiple times over the past several years and it seemed to make little difference for me. I'm thinking whoever had this number before me gave it out to anyone and everyone. I will try signing up for this list again. Thanks!
No, because the original post never said anything about Amazon, Google, or the oil companies being any different from VW. You are accusing the post as presenting with ignorance towards those data points simply because they don't mention them, but there was no prior context to mention them.
So it's civil to engage in anti-competitive behavior which arguably sets back the progress of humanity ("pushing the world forward"), but not civil to use the word 'sociopath' in reference to such actions? I was always taught that actions speak louder than words.
