Are the Europeans insane? The modern world is becoming a horror. I think I would rather live in a dark forest. Life is becoming pointless.

> Are the Europeans insane?

I don't think so. If they were, it would actually be better: one can have sympathy for insanity, and at least isolate it, if not treat it.

Instead, it's extreme insecurity combined with limitless regard for infallible authority. The thought that the hoi polloi might write or say things that are beyond scrutiny is intolerable. That's the insecurity part. And all intolerable things must be criminalized, because in Europe, laws infallibly fix everything. That's the authority part.

That's not insanity. That's just how you behave when you imagine it is your mandate to perfect the world and indulge hubris sufficient to believe you have the wisdom to do so.

A large chunk of the population voted for this. Good going losers.

Arguing about AI is like arguing about bulldozers. It's just a tool.

Yeah but nobody argues that bulldozers are soon going to make human labor obsolete and force us to re-think our economic systems from the ground up.

There isn't trillions of dollars being invested into bulldozers expecting big returns. We aren't spinning up nuclear power plants to meet demands for bulldozer production. Bulldozers aren't challenging our legal framework for intellectual property.

Companies aren't trying to shove bulldozers down my throat when I try to do mundane tasks like write emails.

20 years of stupidity. It took us that long to learn.

The terrorists won.

I disagree. They got none of the political change they were seeking. Quite the opposite really since it only led to more US involvement in the Middle East.

It's all fun and games until you shot your eye out.

I'm beginning to think all of our rf cards are insecure.

I live on a bike. It's my primary mode of transportation. This could be a very interesting choice. Getting around is not about speed. It's about ease. If this system can get people around more easily then it's worth pursuing.

There are bicycles with chains, belt drives, pedal assist electric, and throttle electric. I would be interested to know if this system could work without plugging in, get me up a steep climb, and do it cheaply. I use chain drives but belt seems to be the winner at the moment.
