I'm with you - I don't quite get this considering the Facebook stance on "fake" users. Was a losing battle to fight? Will they now allow parody accounts a la Twitter?

I'm guessing they were building this for pages which desperately need it and decided they'd roll it out to select profiles too while they were at it.

It only really makes sense on profiles either as a vanity metric or as a way to not have to police impersonators.

I agree on that. I've moved to Berlin together with hype and there is only handfull of really successful startups. Berlin needs more internet millionaires and more transparency. By now, afaiks most of Berlin tech millionaires come from Rocket Internet and people that spawn out of RI have different mindset from what you can see in Valley. But, I'm pretty sure that new generation of Berlin entrepreneurs are on good path to change tech scene from ground up.

it is all about distribution and caching. same thing would happen if you change you cover photo on facebook. it would take some time to propagate though all datacenters, thus someone is Australia would see your old photo, while users served from US datacenter would see latest cover photo.

I hope they will do same with appengine prices. I'd be willing to return if they had more reasonable pricing.

mobile use can be leveraged out by call-to-action approach including deals. ROI for call-to-action s much greater then for display ads and also revenue from deals can be more significant then it is today
