That's false - Signal has had sealed sender on by default since 2018. (the setting you can turn on is just to see an icon in the ui).

> So, I replaced Messages with another SMS app that doesn't spy on me and disabled RCS.

I think you know this based on the rest of your post but there is no “another SMS app that doesn’t spy on me”.

Why not? SMS apps no need internet access, so only one spying there can be carrier.

And totally readable and accessible by any third party

I tried to imply that redundancy instead of privacy would be the reason to support SMS in my last sentence.

Is this the comment you would give when someone says they intend to take a notebook with them when travelling in addition to their phone?

Can you please explain how you or any other third party (beyond my phone provider) can read my SMS at will?

and? If you want encryption you can add it yourself. GPG should work for example. And there was some apps that encrypt messages over whatsapp and co, there should work for SMS too.

Given the bizarre backlash here from people that think sms comms are ok I reckon I’ll start a monthly contribution.

Oh no, the "did you remember to lock the door to the auditorium" messages I send to my boss may be unencrypted. The humanity.

What do you purists use to talk to all the random people around you? Do you reply "I'm sorry, it's too insecure for me to answer that, you'll have to install Signal first" messages when more distant colleagues ask you if you're at your desk right now? Do you teach your grandmother to use WhatsApp so her birthday greetings won't be intercepted by the NSA?

(Admittedly, the email situation at work being utter trash may be coloring my opinion here.)

Whatever they prefer. Whatsapp, imessage, or regular sms (when it makes sense). Or slack honestly. I have friends and family all over the world I only push for Signal where necessary and I want it to be good for that.

This one app nonsense is asinine. You’ll never get global adoption of one thing.

>Do you teach your grandmother to use WhatsApp so her birthday greetings won't be intercepted by the NSA?

Do you not?

Rolled their own and off by default.

That’s sort of the problem though. The sms was/is never secure.

So 12-15 mins + 10 laying down. Twice. ~ 40 mins or so per day you’re taking to sit/lay and do nothing (I assume you aren’t on the phone or reading/listening).

I wonder how much of this is simply the meditation effect / you’re just taking true mental breaks.

Yes that’s about right, no phone or anything, I just close my eyes. Sometimes I fall asleep.

It is very possible, that this is simply what it takes to sent my mind into a mental break.

I have tried Headspace and all that stuff and I see the benefits, it is just much easier to send your mind into relax mode after above mentioned schedule.

I've meditated a fair bit and done sauna a fair bit. The heat is definitely adding something different and a bit euphoric.

Meh. How old are your kids? Mine climbs all over, on top, around, etc the playgrounds. The default parts are safe sure but he prefers to go on top of the whole thing then slide down the support arm. They’ll figure it out.

Maybe your doctor further explained this but PACs are extremely common and not considered out of ordinary. Not sure if you were implying that the first doc missed it or not.
