Catch-22 was hard for me simply because it was too dark to handle at the point in life when I tried to read it, although it is quite funny in places. It isn't 'hard to read' though.
I couldn't put 100 Years of Solitude down once I picked it up, and I don't understand why it's on the list as opposed to Gravity's Rainbow or something along those lines.
There were two (hardware) additives synths, both from Kawai - the K5 and the K5000 series. I have the K5000S, and it is relatively difficult to program.
It sounds like nothing else out there, don't think I'll ever get rid of it.
I did CF over a decade ago, I remember this: http://nowostey.net/uploads/posts/2010-01/1264151016_84f0bc9... was one of the first things that I really liked that was killed by the Allaire -> Macromedia -> Adobe mergers. I'm not sure if I can blame adobe for that as Macromedia just left it to die.
I used to love CF Studio (the CF version of Homesite) and only gave it up 12 months ago. I was using a version that hadn't been updated for perhaps a decade or more. Couldn't get used to anything else I tried.
(Now using Sublime Text with the colour scheme tweaked to mimic CF Studio...)
I tried this out earlier today, and it's great but one thing confused me a little - your system seems to choose a home price for me based on income and savings. In the real estate market where I live this results in twice the house I would want/need. It also screws up the tax and rent/own calculations, I would think.
@brianmckenzie -- you can change the mortgage and/or downpayment on the home-affordability page (or any other page, clicking the "Edit" button in the Home Value box on the left sidebar). Feel free to ping us on Olark chat (on the site) if you have any issues.
Also, please do let us know why/where you think the tax and rent/own calculations are screwed up. thanks!
I also live in St. Louis (moved here about a year ago after six years in SF), and I'm quite fond of thinking. Shoot me an email if you want to meet up sometime, if nothing else I can probably introduce you to at least one other person here who is into quantum mechanics.
Really? People lie about being Eagle Scouts? That says about as much about your character as lying about Mensa membership says about intelligence.
Presumably, that never happens on resumes with real career track records; if you have an established career, the upside to lying about being an Eagle Scout is relatively microscopic. I probably wouldn't "yea" an inexperienced candidate simply on account of their Boy Scout record. I have to wonder what these people are thinking.
Another interesting thing to do is play back image data as audio. I used to use this for wild sound effects in tracks I was making about 15 years ago. Never did get to the point where I could play around in photoshop to deliberately create sounds, but I suppose one could if you made a study of it.
