Binance doesn't have to come up with anything, it is a white label solution managed by Paxos.

Does that make the $16 billion hole go away?

Sort of - there are two versions of BUSD that people use interchangeably.

Paxos issues one, and Binance issues the other.

Are you sure about that, and if so, do you have any sources?

I'm almost certain that there's only BUSD [1], issued by Paxos. What would be the other version?

Your misconception is the exact reason SEC took this action:

There are two different BUSDs, one by Paxos on the Ethereum netowrk and one is a BUSD based derivative on other chains such as BSC.

Very interesting, do you have any sources on this being the reason for SEC's actions?

As far as I understand this, this is "just" wrapping/bridging – "just" in quotation marks because that often does carry counterparty risk if not done in a trustless way.

Is the issue that Binance is acting as a secondary custodian (holding Ethereum BUSD, issuing BSC BUSD) for a Paxos-issued (holding USD, issuing Ethereum BUSD) asset, and that that activity is not regulated by the NYDFS?

I beleive the latest reports now include specification that the issue is with the Binance pegged BUSD.

yes

to make matters worse, AFAIK there is also revenue share beteween the two

where did you find that? im only seeing jarrow with the DE111 strain

Why are we even paying for Slack?

Mar 29, 2022, 10:37 AM PDT

Dear support we do have an employee in Ukraine: Dmytro he can’t access his slack account anymore. Dmytro is living in Ukraine close to the border with Russia in Bakhamut (https://goo.gl/maps/EDITED) Ukraine. Dmytro is a Ukrainian citizen who is living in Ukraine. We would love Dmytro to have access to slack again without VPN or similar. Can you please assist us? Best

Hello Daniel,

Paul here from Slack. Thanks for your writing in with your question, although I'm sorry for the trouble your colleague is having connecting to Slack. Can you please have this person reach out to us here directly at feedback@slack.com so we can investigate on their behalf?

We'll be standing by for their outreach.

Warmly, Paul

Hello Paul,

I would like to continue the correspondence started by my management and clarify the point.

As Daniel mentioned in his previous letter, I am located in a town that is officially under the control of the Ukrainian government and has not been occupied by Russian military forces. Feel free to check the location via this link (https://goo.gl/maps/EDITED). My IP address is EDITED to make it even more precise.

I consider it to be genuinely unfair that Slack limited my access to the software considering my town to be a part of Russia or any other restricted area. This fact is offensive to me as a citizen of Ukraine and a part of the resistance to the Russian invasion.

I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Best regards, Dmytro

Hello Dmytro,

Thanks for letting us know. We'll review the information we have and will get back to you soon.

Warmly, Paul

This sounds like an honest mistake and they're trying to resolve it.

I'm sorry you're having issues though, and I hope you're staying safe.

IP blocks are changing every day, especially in that region. If you can accurately slice IP's by geoIP you'll be a billionaire.

Maxmind sucks at it, regularly reporting IPs from Australia as Austria and Germany, and they're the best in the world.

If the client does not have the competence to spot bad work, how are screenshots gonna help?

This. I am not sure I as an engineer could tell the difference with screenshots. How could someone without programming experience do so?

They can give an indication that work is at least being done, or perhaps the pace at which it’s being done. Which as I said isn’t a great metric either. But it does to some extent help with something which is legitimately a problem for a lot of businesses who end up being taken for a ride by unscrupulous contractors.

not really, in my experience on Upwork for 25$/hour you can't really find someone who is a competent engineer and also speaks solid english (no matter the country).

Bingo.

how do you get access to those CZDS files?

If you open YouTube in desktop mode (in the browser) and switch tabs, you can still play the video via the notification manager popup (not sure how it's called, basically when you drag down the top bar, there is still this sticky YouTube notification). This is how you can get free background play without 3rd party apps.

>So my advice to non-FAANG developers: if you want to make development your career, learn to be bored.

is life at FANG really that different tho? Can't imagine that everyone is working on exciting stuff all the time. Would appreciate if someone could enlighten me.

I can speak for only one of the FAANGs, but the work I do there is definitely the most exciting to me personally from all the companies I've been at. There are challenging technical problems that require discussion with other engineers to design a solution. In most companies I've been before the challenges were mostly organizational and I had to deal with all of the "agile" crap to please PMs and managers, while the actual technical work was boringly easy.

It's not always rainbows and butterflies here either but I do feel much happier with the work I do here.

Well somebody has to be the one to annotate a million private and public SDK’s with @nullable !!

And once you’re done with that, there’s a whole load more refactoring for the latest language update!

The only difference at (most of) Google is that you would use grpc instead of ftp and protobuf instead of txt.
