I would say it is weird, that NVidia competes with own customers but looking back at "Founders Edition" cards maybe it isn't that weird at all. The better question probably is - with every big corporation having its own LLM, what exactly is OpenAI moat that would explain their valuation?
They both believe the product people focus on will commoditize. Tesla realized early that EVs without autonomy are a dead end for long-term dominance, just as NVIDIA believes models without infrastructure are a dead end for durable AI profits.
Eh. If it was released in early days of crypto and was dedicated only for that task and quite cheap - I don't think it would be anything wrong with it.
Think of hosting a TOR relay or some kind of WiFi/Mesh network . So it is just 10 years late, no one believes anymore that cryptocurrency will be a real decentralized payment method. The only community left is "the line goes up" people.
Microsoft gave up on underwater data centers after trail run. I suspect it also was uneconomical. Easier cooling doesn't help that much when servers are inaccessible for maintenance.
It is easier to block all non-residential addresses, than block VPNs. As an added "bonus" it also kills personal VPNs running on VPS. VPNs in residential space exist but are sold as "premium" product.
yes and those users that happen to have their bw sold as residential VPN will be caught in the crossfire... many times they are not even aware of it because it's something buried in a ToS they didn't read for some random app.
It is always going to be controversial but after discovery of prions - needle shifted to "self-replicating means nothing and viruses are also dead". Then scientists also found viruses large enough that they get infected with other viruses, and parasitic cells that are missing most parts required for metabolism, so it is getting more fuzzy again.
