— $: Competitive salary.

Our peer tutoring platform empowers students everywhere with free online tutoring over Zoom. It's still the early days — we currently have a couple thousand learners from 40+ countries, with plans to grow this platform to millions.

We are looking to hire a small, fully remote team of full stack engineers and designers. Our first version was quickly built on Coda to respond to the pandemic, but we are now developing a new web app from scratch. We want people who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can do some of everything: designing the architecture of a web app, writing algorithms, crafting CSS media queries, deploying and scaling on AWS, etc.

— Stack: Currently JavaScript, Node, GraphQL, React, MongoDB, AWS. We’re early and nothing is set in stone. You will shape this.

— Qualifications: Full stack development, with scalability, devops, and security experience a huge plus. Can build things from scratch. Excited to learn anything and everything.

— $: Competitive salary.

Regarding the author's point that you "need to narrow down and focus on a small enough splice, such that when you tug at its strings, you have a real chance to get noticed" — reminds me of a friend who sends the occasionally newsletter.

Rather than boasting a large email list, the friend signs off every email with the line, "sent to 27 subscribers." You have no idea who those 26 other people are, but you know you were hand-picked. This is not a list you sign up for, but it's one where you are likely to pay attention.

Audience matters a lot.
