A lambda is traditionally a functional programming product--think Lambda Calculus. Functional programming doesn't have statements, and neither should lambdas. Or do you mean anonymous function, in which case you're right.

It depends what you mean by DVD. If you're talking about a physical DVD, then obviously no you can't. If you mean play the movie/tv show, then yes obviously you can.

Video games, I've not been a PC gamer for a long time, so a wii makes sense for that, although there are a few good games being written for the browser.

Seriously, for most people there is no need for desktop apps anymore.
DejaVu Sans Mono is a solid font, but personally I enjoy Consolas, or the (incomplete, IMHO) free version Inconsolata. Also: Monofonto, MPW, ProFont, Proggy, and Anonymous.
If I were to guess, he's talking about problems which don't affect his life or aren't "interesting"; That, however, is where the money lies. Just think about the founders of google: their research wasn't exactly thrilling, but it's led them to be one of, if not the, most successful tech companies of all time.
