The author has some points but if I was one of his colleagues reading this (he works at github according to his resume) I'd hate to approach him with anything, at all.

I feel like he's missing the team element in this post. Yes your individual contributions matter, but the team's delivery matters more.

It really does feel like this is the current worry in the tech sphere, and somewhat unnecessarily

Well I live in a fairly small city with not a lot nearby, and it's showing me unremarkable nearby high schools

VAS Aviation has put the audio up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fItu5qM7QfE

That's for what happened after the collision, not what led to it.

I'm just a hobbyist, but my understanding is that there are supporting systems in-place, such as RIMCAS (Runway Incursion Monitoring and Conflict Alert System) https://test1.skybrary.aero/articles/runway-incursion-monito...

Care to expand?

Flexibility of custom workflows, integrations with third party systems, being able to track down tickets across the whole lifetime (documentation, source control, bug reports, who did what, reporting).

Yes, it is a huge beast, because big corps have huge complex workflows.

And that's what everyone else doesn't want, what makes it such a PITA to use for those that don't need it. Essentially I think anyone looking for or interested in an 'alternative to Jira' exactly doesn't want that mess to follow them away from it.

Most of those that don't want it, are using Trello or something like that.

And here is some other thing like that.

Yeah, but those aren't Jira alternatives to start with, as they don't compete in the same target market.

But plenty of people/companies in the target market of the simpler tools end up using Jira anyway.

This is like objecting to a fairly lightweight orchestration tool calling itself a 'Kubernetes alternative' - it is an alternative, it won't necessarily fulfil all needs of everyone using Kubernetes (resp. Jira), but it will for a lot of them, a lot of them don't need everything it's offering anyway. Of course they're going to use one of the most well-known players to paint the picture of what sort of thing the product is.

Yeah and this is why Jira consultants exist

I did notice that Plane mentioned custom workflows.

Definitely consider the outlay for a colour laser printer. I've had one for around 5 years and it has been no trouble and is always ready to print, scan and copy.

I love my color laser, but depending on what you're printing they're either not ideal (photos) or not always possible (sublimation, transfers, some adhesives, most things involving heat; laser-specialized materials might be available but won't work as well).

Inkjet is also typically more viable for non-commercial borderless and supertabloid printing, like large prints and posters.

That sounds like fairly specific usage. My color laser has served me well for document printing, both color and black and white

That and it's been around so long that the language and it's standards have been through so many iterations

I really take issue with the idea that your travel insurance will save you in a case like this. It's almost a naive position to take. Travel insurance is notoriously exclusionary when it comes to individual items, especially high value items.

Travel insurance is probably one of the most least likely types of insurance where there will be a positive outcome for the consumer.

All of these ecosystems have problems. I'm a long term Google Pixel user and I could list all of the irritating problems I've had over the years
