I'm currently passionate about the journey of becoming a full-time blogger. I was tired of working as a Head of Marketing for several years and wanted freedom of my time.
While I know how to generate relevant traffic, one of the top challenges that I've been tackling over the last couple of months is monetising the traffic. I've tried selling courses, ebooks, SaaS products through my content but I'm getting unpredictable sales once in a while. It's not been an easy journey, but it's so full-filling when I get a sale through my content. Highest of highs as well as lowest of lows. Right now, I'm just grinding with faith - this will work. 3 articles/week, non-negotiable.
Perhaps one day I will have a revenue-generating blog that surpasses my monthly salary when I was a Head of Marketing :)
That's super helpful, thank you! I'm a SaaS marketer with over 10 years experience growing SaaS companies from $500k to $5M ARR. So I can definitely add value.
I hear you that finding a co-founder is based a lot on trust over time with a person. My issue is that I've worked remotely almost all my life, so while I have built relationships with team members, it's hard to sustain those cross-border relationships over time.
I run a podcast where I speak to remote marketing teams from across the world - https://anchor.fm/remote-marketing. I publish an episode every 2 weeks and the podcast is entering its third year.
Unpopular opinion but I feel freelancing's still safer than a full time job in the current scenario. You can charge higher & cushion yourself for an uncertain time (when it comes). Another great thing that you learn while freelancing is how to sell yourself.
It varies from industry to industry though. My opinion comes from being in tech. Could be different for events related industries - videography, photography, event planners etc.
