maybe you could run the updates in a transaction that you could roll back if you were unhappy with the result?

Remarkable that a new book hasn't entered his "favourites" (top 100) in 22 years. And that his favourite books are ones he read longest ago - the favourites ranking tracks with date read fairly consistently!

good luck on CentOS 8. docker does not maintain el8 rpms, and installing the most recent offering from Docker requires that you work around several package conflict issues.

in the end it just didn't feel good, and i ended up going down the (clearly recommended) podman route instead. however, rootless podman containers have their own gotchas...

i kind of wish i'd installed debian on my homeserver instead. :)

Thanks for this comment, I’m so glad now I switched to Debian-based for my home server now as it’s essentially just docker+mdadm machine.

interesting to see there's only 140 damn true moments (at the time of writing, anyway).

that's like, almost two and a half hours

i like to think that music makes me more productive as a sysadmin, but it really doesn't. i'll start thinking about the song i'm listening to more than the task i'm performing. it reduces my alertness and productivity.

however, the act of simply having headphones on my head makes me a great deal more productive! the number of drive-bys i receive at my desk drops dramatically when i go into antisocial mode.
