Anyone with half a brain has seen this coming for years.

I tried to fullscreen it, but i couldn't because they intercept keystrokes.

So i fullscreened and then clicked on the link, but then i couldn't get out of full screen or close the tab because they intercept keystrokes.

Well I'M told they WON'T.

mjg59 wrote the original blog post - he might know more than you.

the designer is Ethan Marcotte, he's written a book about fluid (or as he calls it, "responsive") web design.

one member of the backend dev team was posting in /r/web_design over on reddit. if you're really interested, it couldn't hurt to post a reply and ask him about things.

Ethan has written about his experiences here: http://unstoppablerobotninja.com/entry/the-boston-globe/

Ethan gave a wonderful talk including several points about this design at Converge SE (http://convergese.com/) this June.

I don't have root on every box I log in to.

RAM can be placed in the stack, eliminating slow trips accross the frontside bus. The only remaining bottleneck should be hdd access.

You can also stack flash, phase-change or memristor-based memory in there too.

/r/ideasfortheadmins is the place you should post.

How clever. I've been inspired, I'm going to write a module named "mkfs" and it will do absolutely nothing related to making a filesystem

Yeah! Your joke library that appeals to a niche audience is really going to fill that second page of google results.

One issue with the current karma-less HN is that one cannot visually determine who won an exchange such as this one.

Is there a mechanism for determining the karma of a particular comment with additional effort?

I thought that was \the point\ of invisible karma.

Closest you can get is something like this: http://hnpoints.com/about

Otherwise, no, the information simply isn't available.

Not true. After 6 days you can view the karma points when you search at http://hnsearch.com/

I think we both lost :P.

Maybe cities are the problem, and Detroit is the solution.

Lots of people happily live in cities that aren't Detroit. Lots of people even prefer to live in cities over suburbs.
