And so what? Given the display of men's feelings w.r.t. to "mixed groups", I (heterosexual male) get the ick about some people here... For me most of it is about the space/relationship where certain things should happen, but I guess scientific misogyny is a thing too.
I know of an older woman (has grandkids) who smokes cigars at the cigar shop I smoke at. The discussions with "The Boys" are different when she's around.
Buddy, if wokeness is making you a racist then you were always a racist especially within the US context where families have endured 100s of years of generational racism. You’re not making any sense
Actually you overestimate the general public's ability to discern what's real or not. On top of that, most people don't even care if it's real. This is exactly why Trump won.
Example: if a gen ai vid of a politician doing some crazy crime came out. Even if it were proven fake, people would start questioning everything and still act as if the politician were guilty
See the part of my comment you are replying to where I specifically stated that the motivation for all of this is that "Jethro doesn't vote the way I want him to". You've proven my point.
The censorious attitudes on HN were non-existent before Trump won in 2016. I know this for a fact. I've had my account on here since 2012, after 2 years of being just a reader.
Meanwhile, you overestimate how immune to misinformation and lies the average HN techy is. Just a few years ago, the majority of people on here believed, with utter conviction, that the bat-borne coronavirus lab in Wuhan had absolutely no connection with the bat-borne coronavirus epidemic that started in Wuhan and that only bigots and ignoramuses could draw such a conclusion. I experienced this whenever I brought up the blatantly obvious, common sense connection in these same comment threads in late 2020 or into mid 2021. The absolutely absurd denial of common sense by otherwise intelligent people was reminiscent of trying to talk to a religious fundamentalist about evolution while pointing at dinosaur fossils and having them continue to deny what was staring them in the face.

The article seems to completely discredit your conspiracy theory. It borders solipsism more so than it makes the slightest bit of sense.
lol. I think you live in your little bubble. I’ve used Twitter for a while, there were always a wide range of opinions. Only difference now is that there are extremist opinions posts amplified. And Elon sets the tone. When you have the owner of a site posting race science, it clearly shows the site is one sided. If you like it, you like it but I think Twitter is clearly dying. I think social media in general will hit a downturn over the next decade
Groupthink is every social media site. You go on Twitter, it's primarily right wing group think. Go on certain forums, same thing. Even Hackernews is extremely slanted on topics and it's even funnier because some of you folks are clueless on the topics at hand.
Twitter is not primarily right wing group think. There is plenty of discussion of both sides on there.
The problem is that most modern algorithms tend to recommend most stuff that you engage in, so if you continuously comment against conservative viewpoints, you are doing to get more conservative stuff in your feed.
Hackernews is by far the best because it tends to self govern with downvoting/flagging baseless comments. People definitely have a bias, but you can post disagreement on things and actually have good discussion, whereas on Reddit you basically just get downvoted and people just tell you are wrong without any sort of justification.
It isn't lmao. I've always seen people say pretty much what they want on Twitter unless it was super bigoted and even those posts were allowed at times. The only different is nazi content and that's a fact. Hence the reason why most of the banned users with the most followers were literally nazi/extremist users.
Uncontrolled free speech benefits the more powerful, manipulative forces the most. Apparently a huge portion of people's minds can be bent with disinformation in order to create supporters, voters, haters, etc. Probably this is the biggest threat to humanity currently, and this is what Elon Musk's X platform (and himself) supports.
Free speech is very important and powerful, but truth (the real truth) is what matters the most. Free speech of lies and conspiracies is a very dangerous thing until most people gets good enough in critical thinking.
If you have standing, you are always free to file a suit against X on that basis. Even so, I'm not sure how X is relevant to lawsuit Musk made against OpenAI. If you're just saying that Musk is a hypocrite, you won't hear me arguing, but it has nothing to do with a lawsuit against a different company. I think the word for it is whataboutism.
