Amazing!

If on Raspberry Pi OS, install libwidevinecdm0 and those should work.

Or, for Youtube (I guess you could use the same device for Netflix, Plex client, etc.), you could get the best of both worlds: Chromecast-like controls for YouTube and an ad blocker (the info from that link can be adapted for a desktop): https://www.linuxuprising.com/2021/04/how-to-cast-youtube-vi...

Use a smart tv user agent and it will work on a desktop.

It's not installed by default, users need to install it (sudo apt install libwidevinecdm0). Previously it wasn't available at all though, at least not in an official way.

These are some unofficial ways of getting Widevine on a Pi (no longer needed now): https://gist.github.com/ruario/19a28d98d29d34ec9b184c42e5f8b... https://blog.vpetkov.net/2020/03/30/raspberry-pi-netflix-one...

It has to be level 3, since Google Chrome on Linux desktops (not sure about other platforms) only supports level 3.

Here's a cross-platform alternative to this: https://github.com/kamranahmedse/pennywise

Wow I didn't come across this during my research - seems similar to my solution, although TabFloater is a little bit different!

This pam_usb fork can be used to set up any USB for authentication: https://www.linuxuprising.com/2021/02/how-to-login-with-usb-...

This are PKI tokens, like smartcards. I would like something tied to a certificate and private key on the device. That would be unforgeable
