Most whales esophagus are only the size of their prey and they all eat really small stuff largest esophagus of a whale size of a grapefruit. Jonah was supposably swallowed by a big fish that's what it says "fish"
That’s a pretty ridiculous way to measure predator success. Hunting is a high risk high reward endeavor; a predator can fail to kill in most hunts and still be a very successful species.
For the record, it’s estimated that American deer hunters have a success rate between 6-13%, depending on the method and state. So lions are apparently more consistently successful hunters than humans with guns.
Yes in India gets coal super cheap and they use a ton of it to make their electric. All these electric cars are just coal cars, all these electric trains are just coal trains
They are also building quite a bit of solar power. The obvious difference between actual coal trains and electric trains (even running on coal electricity), is that you don't need to change a thing in the trains themselves to reduce the emissions of the system. Certainly it would be nicer if India already generated their electricity carbon neutrally, but moving from coal powered electric trains to PV powered electric trains is so much easier than from diesel trains.
Sure, but most of Europe use electric and we generate a lot of our electricity from nuclear and hydro. By switching to electric India can change to other sources of electricity in the future.
It is in parallel to solar investments in station and on top of trains and along the tracks as well. My understanding is that they plan to go fully green.
Given the variations in solar generation and no mention of storage I am assuming it is equivalent green power to offset rather than actual used.
Every generation there's a story like this you live long enough and you just roll your eyes when you see the same issues crop up like every 20 years but nothing ever happens
this might be true for certain graphene stories (or paid advertisements where it's covered up who paid for those) but please don't say that "journalists" (meaning the whole group of journalists) have "zero morals". Because (real) journalists at least report more or less about the information that they receive and (yes) interpret it, that's better than zero morals (how much can be argued). Zero morals are what you find with certain politicians (or social media users or paid-for-studies-by-cartels) that pull their stories out of their behinds with no accountability whatsoever. Journalists still have a certain higher standard. And we shouldn't neglect this or say otherwise because this would lead to further erosion of trust in media. People should trust news sources more than social media posts because real news sources are still (!) more trustworthy than social media posts. Critical reading and thinking for thyself should be on the agenda everywhere, though.
While "eradication" evokes killing and hostility, many small island communities all over the world which cohabitate with rare and vulnerable bird species do ban or severely restrict the ownership of cats.
Cats are living things which we have a special relationship with, drones are not.
Some culture value life more than things, so unsurprisingly it'll be easier to propose a ban things than the eradication of cats.
I would like to interject that Earth changes very very rapidly and humans never remember what it was like just 20 years ago. Most of the natural forests in the United States have been a ravished and destroyed. Yet people are still worried about the environment but not concerned about tearing down a quarter acre of the forest for their house. The snowflake never feels responsible for the avalanche. My grandpa told me stories of squirrels that could go from Cincinnati to Apalachicola on the tops of chestnut trees and never touch the ground, now you'll never find one chestnut tree the whole way.
And I believe that humans are so closed off from reality and don't care about others so much the point that they don't realize how little of a rate that is compared to everything else. We got people claiming they almost died from covid. Then testing negative realizing that they just got normal flu, holy crap normal flu is so bad it can make you lose weight? Yes idiot.
I just spent about 3 months non-stop hospital visits for the past year and a half for open reduction internal fixation multiple times. The hospital was empty like literally the lights are out in this hallway I have to find the light switch and turn it on so that I can go down to the X-ray room. This is a city of 300,000 with an empty hospital. Yet they claim it's full when all 35 covid beds are taken. I walked all around the hospital hoax fake are the first words that came to my mind.
