I don’t understand it. Apple has only changed their connector once since 2007. Where I have untold number of USB devices that are either A, Mini, Micro, or now C.
Since 2007 the de facto standard for other devices has only changed once too (micro to USB-C). Mini USB has been obsolete since 2007 and USB-A is the other end of the connector and not really comparable (Apple has actually since changed on their devices from type A to type C in that time).
For me Lightning is just another in your list of connectors that I wish would go away and standardise to USB-C.
As someone who is travelling right now, with a two port charger and two iPhones, an iPad, a laptop, a Switch, an Apple Watch and two sets of USB-C headphones between us, one connector would actually be a significant quality of life improvement (though an even better one would be hotels not killing power to the socket when I’m not in the room so I can charge my devices while I’m out!)
I imagine that the caterwauling around the change from 32-pin to Lightning somewhat plays into their decision not to move to USB-C. Obviously the overtly cynical will put it down to purely profiteering...

> Let us once again summon the sweet, revolutionary nonviolence that was our calling card in Zuccotti Park.
If your stated intent explicitly calls for ‘non-violence’, I expect this doesn’t violate ToS despite potential inferences from the sensational branding.
I never heard of this before so I don’t even know what happened on Sept. 17. Was it violent?
I recently set up a LinkedIn profile after avoiding them for many years, and was horrified to discover that there's now a "Facebook wall" feature, replete with all the horrible political conversations that made me abandon Facebook. It's totally in-your-face, too; it's the default home page and the default Android app page. I don't want to see what people I've connected on LinkedIn have to say about, well, anything. I only maintain social connections there to help me network with potential employers. I'm deleting my LinkedIn profile as soon as I connect with my next employer.
Unless recruiting or sales is part of your job, the best approach to LinkedIn is to set your profile up well, connect with the people you know and then go to Settings & Privacy -> Communications and switch on email notifications for direct messages you receive. Then you'll only ever have to login should you get an email about a message you might be interested in replying to.
There is absolutely nothing of value on LinkedIn for the average person beyond being a place to host your resume for discovery.
I wanted an online resume and refused to sign up for LinkedIn, so I built https://standardresume.co. It's free to use the web version and can automatically import the data from your LinkedIn profile. I'm curious to hear your thoughts if you have a few minutes to check it out.
I take their meaning as; The court’s role is to interpret the law in letter and spirit at the time at which it was enacted. It is not to invent legality or update definitions with modern social norms.
The argument in dissent is that none of the members of either house or senate intended “sex” to include orientation or identity in 1964. Despite society having a different opinion on that today, redefining “sex” is not the courts prerogative.

I read the court's decision and the test they applied was "if this person's sex was the opposite would they not have been fired ? ". In both the cases of orientation and identity, the answer is a resounding yes. If someone that was gay was female, they wouldn't have been fired, same for a lesbian if she were a man. Also same for transgenders, if their sex was reversed, they would keep the job. I don't see how this is redefining "sex". The decision does not say that sex includes orientation or identity like you claim.
I don't agree. A 1950s science fiction author might well have written about such a device. I don't see why this unspecific level of wishful thinking should qualify for protection.
Whether or not you need them today or not, whether you want to be in a leadership role soon or not, they are essential for anyone seeking to progress and you can’t start too soon.
There are many many ways to approach this and I’ll just offer two book titles that I believe would be beneficial.
Not necessarily, it depends on the egress architecture. There are ways to do corporate monitoring that cannot be done by your ISP.
Web content filters (aka Proxies) in a transparent mode deployment that are not performing TLS interception would not be able to monitor these queries if wrapped in TLS.
However, an explicit mode deployment and all 80/443 traffic enforced by an egress firewall through the proxy that was performing TLS interception can still monitor this traffic. In fact, even if you’re not brokering TLS, the GET method described can still leak the query (but not response) unless your client uses tunneling (ie. CONNECT method).
ISPs can’t force you to use an explicit proxy, but corporations can.
That is a challenge for us as well. Many of our partners use MitM proxies, but our privacy, compliance and legal teams will not approve the usage of them. We promote a work-life balance which means we allow people to use work resources for personal use. Culturally, that is great. It does create this conundrum however. The company does not want to be liable for intercepting personal and financial data that does not belong to us.
> We promote a work-life balance which means we allow people to use work resources for personal use.
Personally I think that is foolish and naive. Not just from privacy perspective but also liability and tax reasons.
Postmen don't get to use the vans for personal errands, factory workers aren't permitted to run the machines to make t-shirts for themselves. Why are IT resources considered differently?
If you want to permit WLB then tell employees that they are fee to use their personal smartphones and 4G plans.
