To echo others in this thread, the same happened to me. The account was deactivated in 2009, and I used a password that I know to have been compromised in hacks of other services.

After several weeks, I got an email yesterday telling me that due to no further suspicious activity, they unlocked the account without Photo ID verification. I went in and scheduled the account for deletion.

I used to be a big fan of Nest. I've owned the thermostat, protect, Dropcam Pro, and a Nest Cam. This product announcement leaves me very underwhelmed.

Since Nest took stewardship of the Dropcam products, there has been a noticeable decline in quality. The Nest App is not as fully featured as the Dropcam one was previously, and I seem to be having more and more connectivity issues, despite having improved Internet connectivity.

There isn't anything compelling about this new product that will lead me to "upgrade". One of my cameras is already pointed outdoors and it gets the job done for monitoring my entrances.

Oh, there's a reason for that. Fadell's leadership was so horrible that a lot of the dropcam team ended up quitting after being acqui-hired.

I'd argue the opposite. With them recently changing Direct Messages to account for 10,000 characters, they know what it takes to make the changes.

They know what it means to make the change, but it's entirely different to change something like direct messages, which go from one person to another, and the millions of tweets sent every day.

Do the Twitter APIs support direct messages? I imagine that the ecosystem of Twitter clients, libraries, site scrapers, and related database schemas have hardcoded the 140 char limit in many unexpected places. :)

For sports teams/venues that partner with them, they do.

When I sell my hockey tickets on stubhub, they place my tickets on hold with Tickets.com, and once sold, my physical tickets can no longer be used to gain entry to the event. The tickets that the buyer receives has a new barcode on them, so they can rest assured they won't have an issue at the gate.

SportsCenter is one of the high margin show on the network[1]... this isn't by any means the cause of the reduction in workforce.

My unit had its path light on all night and wore out the battery's on a nightly basis. It went from full battery to chirping in less than a night.

Support wasn't very helpful, so I just disabled that feature and haven't had an issue since.

I have a KwikSet Kevo, and it's been a huge convenience for me when returning home. I'm typically carrying several bags/waterbottle/misc items, and just tapping my lock rather than digging for a specific key is way easier, especially with hands full.
