I have no big love for json or yaml, but i'd gladly take worrying about missing brackets over worrying about the handful of whitespace-related gotchas in yaml.

Totally agree with this. I like the Markdown subset approach LiveBook (https://livebook.dev/) has taken to play nicely with version control in comparison.

Maybe not a _cornerstone_ per se, but Jeff's active in a number arenas (Ansible, Docker, general programming, ...) and has gained a level of name recognition. I think he's taking a reasonable stand here and contributing whatever weight his reputation carries to the discussion.

I once saw the Abort, Retry, Fail prompt on a computer at my mom's office as a kid while it was reading a floppy disk and, being ~8 years old or so, pressed F. The A: drive went missing when it dumped back to the prompt and I got blamed. Looking back after reading the article, guess I was a victim of bad timing and an already failing drive, but that moment instilled a _healthy_ fear of the Fail option for me.
