Though it's a clear transition, I'm sure there are plenty of EEs left. I wouldn't expect too many to use this site though.

Myself, I wanted to be a programmer my whole life but convinced myself not to in college, went EE/CPE, did a power internship, and then finally realized I should just do what I want.

I guess you are a software engineer now.

CEO to the Board: please give me 1 dollar in compensation.

Salary is not the same thing as total compensation.

Very true.

Unless we are talking about Steve Jobs.

Jobs was given millions of dollars in stock options. His total compensation was far far beyond $1/year.

The last time he took options was 2003. His total compensation for the last 8 years has been $1/year.

Since 1997, he was paid $1/year in salary. But he certainly wasn't living in the poor house.

In 2001, the company gifted him a $90 million Gulfstream jet, and paid for all related expenses.

According to Apple’s proxy statement from February 2011, Jobs owned about 5.5-million shares of Apple stock. In addition, he owned about $5 Billion of Disney stock, which gave him an annual dividend of about $50 Million.

A reply-all debacle occurred where I was a consultant a couple years back (at a quasi-government corporation with 5000 employees).

In this case, "Should we really expect..." is like saying "should we really expect people to read a dozen emails before sending 5000?" Yea, I think so.

One of our consultants wrote off a sarcastic reply-all email in response detailing what the reply all button actually did as if explaining to 5 year olds. The client demanded that this person be fired.

Maybe this is a common marketing technique, but I had (and still have) no idea what the site does. "reinventing teamwork" sounds interesting, yet it still doesn't tell me much. Don't get me wrong; I do appreciate the minimalism. However, you're asked to enter quite a bit of information before you know why.

One alternative is to start the user out with sample projects and tasks (like Trello does).

One other thing: the "invalid password" message when creating an account is not very helpful.

I second this viewpoint. Maybe you should try the no-login tryout of the product like Stripe?

Thanks Chris, good point. We'll look into that in future.

Thanks for the feedback!

We'll do a full 'marketing' site soon.

Not in a few years, but in one month:

When did ars technica become The Onion?

LOLcats have replaced good old-fashioned parody. I eat this stuff up!

Most of the calls to boycott companies seem pretty poorly organized (even this article is just a list on some guy's website, albeit one with moderate internet popularity).

What about an app entirely dedicated to organizing boycotts? Users would suggest and vote on issues and companies to boycott. The end result would be detailed guides on which products/service to avoid along with alternatives. The site would only highlight one issue at a time to maximize the effect.

I've been toying with the idea for a while (there are plenty of sites/apps built around single issues, but I've only found one site that does what I've described... though poorly implemented: http://www.boycottowl.com/ ).
