You don't need NextJS to use React. You don't need React to have reusable components, loops and separating data from presentation.

> The biggest problem with React is the JS bloat that's sent to the browser

What does React bring then? It is slow, overengineered and bloated. It is also the only thing many developers know. Just like PHP 20 years ago.

React churned itself.

only after you prove you fit in

I thought his project, sketch.dev is of very poor quality. I wouldn't ship something like this - the auth process is awful and broke, I still can't login. If after 14 hours of the post the service is still rugged to death, it also means the scalability of the app is bad. If we are going to use LLMs to replace hours of programming, we should aim for quality too.

It's really bad, much less useful than even the first public version of chatgpt. Even once you manage to log in, most of the time it doesn't even give something that compiles, it calls functions/variables which don't exist. The first line of the main had 2 errors...

I finally could login and I would prefer I had not. Honestly, it is pathetic that something like this has so many positive comments. I guess most people commenting didn't even try sketch.dev

Carbon Ads seems like a good option: https://www.carbonads.net/

I'm building something that would be better to monetize through ads but I need something like instagram stories to fit well into my product. Couldn't find anything good.

I manage a whatsapp community of digital nomads in Rio de Janeiro (around 3k people). I want to turn it into an app.

What is your plan and how does creating an app benefit your community?

This is a fantastic idea by the way. I bet a lot of people benefit from your work. It’s so good to have a network to lean on when you’re getting settled in a new place.

My main idea is to create value for myself out of whatsapp after putting so much effort into creating the community. So I want to move things out of whatsapp without making the experience worse in any way (and it will probably get better for organizing the information as whatsapp is terrible for that).

The app is a mix of Tinder + Meetup.com. People currently in Rio post what they plan on doing and other people join.

Yeah I love to hear stories of people that got married, found a business partner or made great friendships through meeting in this community. I myself made some of my best friends because of it.

This is a very reasonable take. "Don't hitch your wagon to someone else's horse."

You should look at CouchSurfing Hangouts. It was a fantastic option when it was free. I met many good friends that way while travelling. It's very close to what you describe. The implementation was a bit shoddy, then CouchSurfing torpedoed itself, but the idea was downright brilliant.

Yes! CouchSurfing still works well in Rio although it looks like an abandoned ship that doesn't fix bugs for ages. It is definitely one of my inspirations!

why not process their data in the frontend using WASM?

Isn't Boeing also involved in the maintenance part?

Not necessarily. Manufacturer recommends maintenance procedure but airlines can vary them, see American Airlines 191. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Airlines_Flight_191

If the main objective of DNA and genes is to spread itself, black people still have some obvious genetics advantage, historically. And it doesn't seem to be changing, much the opposite.

The other 76% were unemployed or in a precarious job.
