MyFonts is owned by Monotype, the big gargantuan soulless mega corp that is still profiting off typefaces designed by people that have been dead for over a century.
But if you look at independent font developers (who are just folks like you and me), most are perfectly reasonable in pricing and license constraints, and are happy to answer questions or even change the terms and conditions if this makes it easier for you to spend the $30 - $100. I don't think any of these are trying to be litigious, and they're certainly not ignorant.
(Though I understand that your misunderstanding of the web font licensing might make it look so!)
Hey, glad you liked it! I tried to get in touch but I guess the message got lost in your noisy inboxes — must be a busy time for you folks. Ping me if there's anything I can help with!
I can put your mind at ease: I took a bit of poetic-mathematic license with that number. I figured that the big sites and the small sites together would average a perfect 1000 fresh-cache vistors a day, but in all probability I'm off by at least 3 or 291 visitors :)
I think you misunderstand the effect of the long tail. For that many sites the average is going to be tiny. And where did the figure of 73 million come from?
This should be fixed now. If you download the font again, it should be installable. (If you could check and let me know I'd be eternally grateful! I don't have a Windows machine nearby.)
Why so careful to choose Droid Sans for the main font, then use Comic Sans for the substitutions? Isn't Comic Sans the property of the most lawyered-up tech company on the planet?
