I’m more than happy to pay more for energy if that’s the price of peace

This is not going to buy peace.

It won’t. But it might make them sell it cheaper somewhere else, resulting in lower spend on the army. Also, think of all Russian businesses loosing money. Their owners will be pushing the government to fix the situation. At the end of the day, money is power, you don’t want to loose it.

If money is power it didn't help Jack Ma. Looking at this situation through a western political lense is not going to offer insights.

Putin has a firm grip on power within Russia, I don't see this move changing that calculus. It only will escalate the situation.

Western lenses doesn’t help, that’s a fair point.

Ma’s case is not a good example though. The guy was alone and his empire didn’t vanish, just changed ownership.

I’m not an expert on Russia, but I’m sure that they’re not self sufficient and that to be able to trade with anybody, they’ll need to exchange their currency. Alone, they might end up like Jack Ma

Good, escalation is the only option. The people of Kyiv are dying.

Escalation with a nuclear super power is not something to be done lightly. Leaving war as the only option on the table is a very bad idea.

This is likely to end poorly for the entire world.

Yep, really terrible that Russia put the world in this position.

Paying more for energy means your economy gets rekt too. It's hilarious people think only the seller's will be hurt, the buyer's will be hurt too. It's a two way street.

Not to mention the political upheaval you'll see. High energy prices, especially gas prices, are highly correlated with election results - especially here in the US. It's why Trump and everyone before him was so desperate to keep gas prices low.

Not just the president, there’s a whole elitist gang around him. Once he’s out, things might get even worse

But it’s a problem with bad developers, not a framework.

On the other hand, think of the code those guys could write without a proper “framework”

One doesn’t simply copy traits. Actions are often driven subconsciously by emotions and it’s not always a case of choice. It can take ages to learn and rewire your brain.

Storing contact list by any service should be illegal. You might try to not share your data, but if anyone has you on their contact list, it’s out of your hands

Which is why you also dont tell the service your phone number or reuse an email address

I wonder if Google has a backdoor API which lets group people by backup email. If one always creates an account with the previous email as a backup, the link is east to make.

That would be especially useful for censorship services across competitors: Although Google Facebook and Twitter compete, sharing the flagged accounts would allow recognizing the same user coming back with a different email address.

who said anything about backup email

but sure? probably if you just alternate between a backup email tied to an email you use everywhere

New email per every service you want to use? It shouldn’t be this complicated

Sign In With Apple does exactly this — generates a fake e-mail address for each account, so the data harvesters never get your real one.

no. new email for the same service to make a new account, even after deleting your old account.

a lot of people dont know how or why they get the same suggestions of people and dont want that.
