One of the long withstanding issues with Python 3 has been that some of the major libraries have yet to support it. I think this is great news for the Python community. Hopefully more will follow suit soon.
This is true, but their ratios are remaining relatively the same.
"Soylent 1.5 has a 94 percent increase in omega-3 fatty acids (DHA, ALA), a 92 percent increase in the omega-6 fatty acid, linoleic acid, and a 17 percent reduction in the already low saturated fat levels."
---
"A lower ratio of omega-6/omega-3 fatty acids is more desirable in reducing the risk of many of the chronic diseases of high prevalence in Western societies, as well as in the developing countries, that are being exported to the rest of the world."
Neat. This is very helpful. Hopefully it actually fixes the WiFi performance issues. I created an Alfred workflow for myself based on the terminal commands listed in the article to quickly enable/disable WiFried on Yosemite. It basically runs the terminal command after authenticating upon entering a keyword to trigger. Quick and easy, just like the iOS tweak.
Besides offering lossless quality images, JPEGmini allows a much larger file size. Compressor.io only appears to allow 10MB files, which if you're trying to use it for photography, it won't be very useful because the jpeg's produced by a Canon 5D Mark III are about 20MB-30MB in size. It is also only web based, whereas JPEGmini has a native client. Compressor.io looks promising though.
I'd go out on a limb and say that anyone who's been President of the United States is smarter than you (or almost everyone). It takes a lot of intellect and masterful knowledge of the political and social systems to become President. However, is George W. Bush smarter than the 42 other Presidents before him?
I'm glad that the author of this article didn't try to justify that claim. He definitely had more resources and technology available to him than the previous 42, so one could argue that a bit, but as far as raw intellect, I wouldn't say so. That's a hard argument to win.
I wonder how smart someone like John Kerry really is?
I mean, if you sat him down in front of a page of logic puzzles how would he do? I have a hard time believing he would do really well although I could be wrong.
It seems like the main qualifications for a politician are political sense and looking good in a suit. But I don't disagree. Most people who make it to president have to be reasonably smart.
This is neat. I think it'd be pretty awesome if it were possible to download all the dmg's/installers/apps in a folder/drive without installing them so at a later date you could a) install everything without having to wait hours to download or require an internet connection and b) keep your packages up to date (almost as a backup) running the script every once in a while to make sure you have the most up to date packages/installers.
Nice. I'd love to see templates so you can easily customize depending on what kind of environment you want so you can start from zero. E.g.
1. Development
2. Design
3. Engineering
4. Management
5. General use
It's probably just me, but it seems like all of these require too much investment time before you have something usable for future use (replicating your current environment).
Which brings me to this, how about a script that analyzes what you already have installed and creates this set up for you which you can customize to easily add/remove packages/apps/installers using Boxen and similar? Anyone know of such tools? My MBP is full of crud after using SuperDuper!/Time Machine for several years to start new macbook setups and installing new versions of OS X on top of the old OS.
I think this is the first time in recent history that a company actually took care of its users after acquisition. Most of the time after the deadline to export your content, it's a big "fuck you" to the customer. At least Loom is making it easy to transfer content to Dropbox and is providing users with the same space on Dropbox as well free for a year. I can respect that.
This almost seems too good to be true. Can you stream .MKV files too? Looks like there's no iOS or native apps yet. I guess we just use our browser and stream directly?
Yes, we transcode all video files so that they're streamable on whatever platform you're on (including directly streaming from the browser). We'll be giving users access to our iOS app slowly, which will let you stream MKV (and other formats) directly. You can also use our desktop app to stream directly into your native video player.
