One of my favorite Easter eggs that I discovered on my own was the "Elvis has left the building" message you get when you ran over the entire line of Elvis impersonators walking down the street. I Can't remember off the top of my head if it was GTA 2 or 3.

My #1 favorite was accidentally discovering that if you shoot some missiles at the Statue of Liberty in Twisted Metal 2.

Damn ADHD brain, thought I finished that thought. Appreciate the assist!

Based on my random poking around through the latest datasets for a few hours, while there are a bunch of emails, I don't know if it's "mostly" emails.

That said, in my opinion they are using "pages" as the metric because it makes the number sound huge.

Throwing in my recommendation for the ultra minimalist Flauncher.

It calls for no work, school or shopping, not for them to stay home and close their eyes.

I thought that the EFF’s ‘work’ was to ‘open people’s eyes’ by highlighting important concerns.

Put another way: should television and newspaper reporters not work, and avoid covering any of the protests?

Soooooooooo, your SHELL is having issues with quotes, not ffmpeg.

this is what happens when you let people who don't know what they're doing think they do

Your words brought me right back to my teenage years sitting at the family computer at 12am babysitting a couple of song downloads to burn onto a CD for my friends to listen to on the bus ride.

Kinda random and only tangentially related but the thought brought a smile to my face and I just felt like sharing and saying thanks!

Heh, I too remember the stress and rush of burning car-listening CDs right before long car trips, trying to set the write speed to slower and slower after each failed attempt, and finally succeeding burning it, only to find out that the car didn't actually have any CD reader at all, and could only do cassette. Waiting for DC++, Kazaa or LimeWire to finish a download only to find out that of course, it's some Britney song instead.

Simpler times for sure, unsure if it was actually better or not though, we certainly aren't as young as we used to be :)

Nah, I use both the website and their shitty web wrapper app on a regular basis and it's been a dumpster fire for at least the last 2-3 years. 3-5 years ago when they first rebuilt everything it was much more pleasant but at this point it's clear no one is maintaining it and have just let it bloat and rot

I am so glad when I decided to upgrade my AM4 system a few years back to a 5800X (3D model at the time I believe was just released and was questionable at the time if it was worth it outside of gaming) I wanted to build a PC from my hand me downs for my kid so I went ahead and upgraded my storage and RAM to a decent 64GB DDR4 set that ended up with a decent stable overclock.

Prices weren't great when I bought it at the time but compared to now, I'm glad I bit the bullet when I did.

> Since then, I've been playing with the idea of 'hiring' an AI to manage my freelance and personal work.

Shit, I think you are now personally responsible for 3-4 home projects I've neglected investing time into actually getting some attention. I too am much more productive and oddly enough, find the work more interesting when It's someone else asking and waiting for me to deliver it.

I haven't tried the Gemini CLI yet and creating an agent that acts like a customer I have to answer too about projects progress sounds like a perfect project idea for this weekend.

Question is, will I actually see this one through our will it too wind up in homelab project purgatory!

How is GP's idea related to 3~4 different home projects of yours and not just one?

> How is GP's idea related to 3~4 different home projects of yours and not just one?

My thought process is that if I actually make this for myself, those 3-4 projects would magically get a very impatient new stakeholder who will pester me to actually deliver those projects to them.

It's gonna be interesting to see if I'm able to trick my brain into not just brushing off the agent (or if that's even really an issue, no clue at this point). I've started rolling around some ideas on handling that scenario but I'm just gonna let that stew while I play with different setups so I don't end up just building a convoluted reminder app lol

Unfortunately I had an unexpectedly hectic holiday weekend so I won't get to start playing with the idea for real until tomorrow afternoon.

Please connect with me on LinkedIn. I'd love more progress updates on this.

> So people can't log into their bank website for a few hours, banks used to only be open for like 4 hours a day and somehow we all survived.

1. I believe it's payment processing systems not functioning properly that causes real problems for people and not simply bank websites being down. Especially given...

2. Banks being closed so much back when cash/checks were actually widely used wasn't an issue because you could just pop over to an ATM or whip out a checkbook. In today's system, every single purchase you make requires communication between the merchant, your bank, and any number of middlemen via the internet.

Yeah, cash is still used today but I've been noticing even things like school sports events have stopped taking cash all together and simply post a QR code to buy from your phone.

That is unless the school has crap cell reception (with no public Wi-Fi either!), Cloudflare shits the bed, Visa thinks you're buying porn, you locked your debit card and now can't unlock it cuz the website is down, or any one of the million things that break all the time. Replace school sports event with literally every single things that requires a financial transaction and it's easy to see how even a short outage can lead to actual harm being realized.
