Maybe Microsoft can actually use the data to create a feature to show if an employee is overworked or burnt out. That would be some good use of that tool.

There are better ways to reduce burnout than surveillance.

Examples:

- periodic, mandatory paid leave

- "no emails after 6pm" policies

- anonymous surveys to identify managers who create burnout

- hiring the right number of people

- effective planning

anonymous surveys to identify managers who create burnout

Every “anonymous” workplace survey I’ve ever done has always had a unique URL with a GUID embedded and a warning not to forward the email to anyone.

Don't forget the followups asking you to fill out your anonymous survey.

Good? Or an option for the employer to ditch the employee before he goes on paid sick leave because of the burn out?

Yeah exactly. How long before this goes into a predictive model where employers can identify which employees are likely to start producing less in the near future?

Q: What if this bomb was exploded below the ground, and not above?

The Cannikin test was 5MT and still pretty mindblowing:

https://www.military.com/video/nuclear-bombs/nuclear-weapons...

Small underground nuclear bombs were used to put out well fires. https://www.amusingplanet.com/2018/09/how-soviets-put-out-oi... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S57Xq03njsc

A few ten megaton bomb would create a very small earthquake, quite probably only detectable by instruments. You'd need to wade into millions-ten of millions of megatons to create an extinction event.

this is quite interesting... here is the whole paper: https://weis2019.econinfosec.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/...

It seems to be down. HN effect? :)

Thank you! This is so helpful.

This is such an awesome project :)

This post would still hold true if replace the phrase 'tech jobs' with just 'jobs' :) Such a wonderful article on all things wrong at the workplace these days.

An alternate, better version: If all mass transit was autonomous

My issue with mass transit is destination granularity. I can imagine having individual cars that can "clump" together to form a mass transit system, and then break off as and when required to arrive at specific destinations.

An online marketing veteran here! This list is really good. I can actually help people here execute these to-dos for their side projects.

It does help with SEO, if you give a link back to your site :)

and it wastes your time since you could be doing somethIng more productive instead or rehashing the same thing.
