I like that a lot of the comments are concerned with Go's failure to replace C++ as the de facto systems language yet Rob Pike doesn't mention anything about this in a retrospective article about what the language designers got wrong. He must be so embarrassed about it.
I often have to boot back into the live media because I forgot to install a tool like iwd while chrooted. This information is not included in the single page installation guide. Maybe it’s those scripts i’m unfamiliar with that would shorten the feedback loop.
What’s to stop a terrorist from severing one of these cables and severely debilitating the global network? I’m sure redundancy would stop such issues but still.
Same thing that stops them now -- not a lot, but it wouldn't do a tremendous amount. it's not unheard of for undersea cables to be cut by accident by fishing trawlers and the like.
