Especially when the implication in the article is the police tried to delete a video from evidence -- and still ended up getting to hide behind qualified immunity.

Ugh.

I don't know how you can claim to love technology but hate AI so much -- it's a technological achievement. Yeah it's disruptive and that makes it dangerous if not managed, and I'm not exactly optimistic we'll manage it, but why aren't you curious about how it works? How to make it integrate with society better? How to deal with the myriad issues surrounding IP, rights, likeness stuff... there is a lot of fascinating work being done around AI to figure this all out.

Were you only interested in technology so you could be one of the chosen elders holding a rare and valuable skill? Bummer if so, I think that ship has sailed. If not sunk altogether.

Otherwise? I guess learn plumbing? I think we're still a few years away from Claude telling me "You're absolutely right! Let me unclog that toilet for you" :D

There's a fast-follow "You're absolutely right!" from Claude pending here. :)

Oracle's icy touch. It was foretold. :D

I do think Claude does jiggery pokery with its model quality but I have had Clod appear any time of day.

What i find IS tied to time of day is my own fatigue, my own ability to detect garbage tier code and footguns, and my patience is short so if I am going to start cussing at Clod, it is almost always after 4 when I am trying to close out my day.

This bums me out so much. It means that we need the concept of "late-stage internet" to join capitalism describing things that were awesome and now they're much worse and getting worse-rer. :/

20-50% of the responses in every topic in HN are probably bots.

this one is just obvious.

note: this may also be an automated response

Here's mine. I use it in lieu of a cover letter if I'm trying to make a new connection. If this doesn't explain who I am at a glance, I'm doing it wrong. :)

...which is to say nothing of the interchange fees they earned on that "free loan"

> A triangle-shaped piece to guide the extending kitchen sink sprayer hose so it stops getting caught on stuff under the cabinets

Holy hell that's genius. I know what I'm printing tomorrow! :D

Haha yep! Literally just an extruded triangle, taped to some cabinetry with painter’s tape.

The weight would get caught on some cabinetry piece. Now that piece is made to intersect more gradually with the triangle.

I assume people in government, at some level, are weighting constituent inputs by taxes paid. Which keeps it upright. :)

There's absolutely weighing on money, but it's not from taxes.

They'll be weighing constituents by their ability and willingness to give campaign donations and other favors.

The article is about Europe. In Europe, parties are publicly funded and donations are strictly limited https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funding_of_European_political_...
