Very cool! Reminds me of the mass effect tooth brush! https://youtu.be/BFSMHkk42PA?si=US552qcOmSXM-UXi

Wish we had a congress that would take climate change seriously and require that all data centers run on renewables. Burning fossil fuels to run AI & Crypto server farms is a sure path to human extinction.

Good point. No Final Cut. No Logic Pro. Apple & Adobe are missing out.

Pichai needs to go.

People who work at Google may have an influence on that more than those who don't

And are likely to be more motivated anyway as they have skin in the game

Once you quit its not as compelling a problem

Cook is a smart man. Showed up at Trump's inauguration after paying $1 million. Advertising back on X so they have some leverage to prevent damaging tariffs and sanctions that would impact Apple's manufacturing in China.

What a fun read. I hope you'll try again!

Thanks!

Thanks for the encouragement, but I just turned 60. Running a company is too demanding for me to try it again. My ambition now is to be a writer and find an audience that wants learn the easy way things that I had to learn the hard way.

Hey Ron. I've enjoyed following your blogging since we crossed paths 20 years ago at Indiebuyer/Zerolag. I'm happy to hear you're doing well, and wish you the best for the next 20 years.

Thanks! I miss ZeroLag. You guys were the best.

It would be cool if you could use an AI to summarize the articles into a single sentence link for folks that just want to scan the headlines and get a sense of what is really going on.

Article starts: "This has been an unprecedented period of unprovoked kicks and unkept promises for workers in the tech industry."

The competitive CS schools where many of the students needed good sample code projects have an innate sense of building quality software. Usually because they know it'll be showcased, but also because they haven't gotten lazy with shortcuts or been overly managed to spend time developing instead of fixing. I thought it was funny the article referenced the famous umbrella monster. Here is the longer clip: https://coub.com/view/284lib

Loved that book/movie!

“But the plans were on display…” “On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.” “That’s the display department.” “With a flashlight.” “Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.” “So had the stairs.” “But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?” “Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.”
