There is no connection between CryptoLocker and ad targeting. What you're proposing would do very little to thwart tracking (imho strong identities would make it easier) and completely kill the open Internet where I can send and receive information from people I don't know, maybe even people I wouldn't want to know otherwise.
Just using public key crypto allows anyone to communicate securely with anyone else - including people you don't know. If you have end-to-end security, your communication can't be read and you can verify who a message or threat came from. It's all good with the exception of 3rd party listening. It's probably easier to see that data went from one person to another (which is no change) but that doesn't tell you what the data is (which is a big change).
I don't know why people don't seem to understand this. Or perhaps the lack of understanding is why it's not here.
You'd be fine. Everything here (products etc.) have to be in at least two languages. In a city like Zurich, you'd get along very well in English only. Also, there are many companies around that have English as their "company language" (for instance Google) .
Btw. Google-Maps was largely developed by Zooglers (Google's Zurich office). They call it also "the real mountain-view".
You cannot simply extrapolate from smaller intervention but it does lower the prior for a larger one, of course. Maybe unless you have a specific hypothesis which predicts a non-linear effect.
Also, exercising will actually do very little for your weight because calories have became too cheap and readily available to burn them off. You can eat more by accident than you will use in a fairly vigorous workout.
Keep in mind that the rating is constantly changing. I guess HNers have taken the lead now, as I don't see the guy with the scissors on its eye anymore, but wait until 4chan hears about it.
Here's a couple about "fags", drugs and overall trolling
Well, you can get a cheap VPS in the US, or UK, or wherever the content is available, and run youtube-dl there. You can also use a proxy[1]. Unfortunately, I think socks proxies are not supported yet[1].
I agree. It's a consequence of the software being very volatile, having thousands of users and supporting so many sites. There's something to fix or to add every day.
There's not much motivation to create a non-porn site YouTube clone. You have to believe you can do it better or need to not host your content on YouTube, and you have to be able to do it.
Porn has the need (the mainstream providers generally delete porn) and the sheer resources to do it.
Sorry! The problem is that our userbase is split about wanting the playlist or the video. You can create a file ~/.config/youtube-dl.conf with the content --no-playlist so that you don't have to type it out every time.
This has not been my experience but either way, let's say someone pronounces that 2+2=7. You could respond with "it's actually 4" (address the idea) or "anyone who believes 2+2=7 should be fired" (attempt to silence it, without violence though). There's a pretty clear difference between the two approaches.
The threats of violence are usually empty posturing but there are other serious risks associated with speaking out online under your real name. In the US you can get "swatted"[1], which is an evil twist on usual pizza pranks. It's not far from that to getting shot (or having your dog shot).
Then there are basic SEO threats to your good name. And the old "taking information out of the Internet is like taking piss out of a pool." Whether the information is true or not.
I don't think this is an appropriate defence though. Sticking to usual good practices of not conflating anonymous personas with your real identity, using a PO box and proxy services (whether for domain registrations or actual network proxies) will be more productive. Not good enough when evading FBI but probably more than fine otherwise.
