I wish Opera got another chance. It was so fast. Faster than Chrome. But it didn't render some pages properly, so Chrome it was.

He's an expert in privacy and security and has gobs of time to research and think about these things. Plus he's famous, so there's that.

I've had a great idea for changing recruiting, to allow managers to sort and hire based off psychometric testing, proprietary ranking algorithms, and financial guarantees, rather than looks or networking. However, #2, I don't really _love_ to sell, but I've done it (telemarketing), and #3 I have trouble focusing or finishing and rely on J-types for that. Also, I'm working on another project so don't have time.

You say you want to start with the perspective of the candidates, but are the candidates paying? Your real customers are companies. They are the ones paying. They are your customers. You will end up catering to them.

Embedded job listings (like AdSense) is a novel concept I haven't seen yet. It has potential.

It's meta - breaking the 4th wall - breaking your suspension of disbelief. Rick & Morty do it all the time. Kind of cheesy, but not a big problem, especially on audio book. I hope they rename the character too.

Yeah, and make him a white guy. YT can age 10 years and become a romantic interest. Change Raven into a Chinese character, add in a subplot about Bitcoin, remove the motorcycle stuff, maybe move the setting of the Raft to something easier to film - like outskirts of LA...

Bleah.

Chloë Grace Moretz ("Hit Girl") would make a great YT. She's convincing as a snarky tough girl.

The Raft would be quite do-able. After all, there was Waterworld. (I met the guy who did the Softimage water shader for that. It worked out much better for him when he did the water shader for Titanic.) Worn-out ships are easily available. Chase scenes in open water are easier than ones near land, and you can add all the background ships in CGI.

There are ways to get the cost down. Watch this trailer for the Blade Runner remake.[1] Nothing expensive there, except old Harrison Ford. A smoke and fog world brings the costs down.

I'm being sarcastic at someone's suggestion that Hiro's name ought to be changed. I'm not actually suggesting any of this happen; it would be a travesty.

Chinese government is leading a $27M infiltration, code injection, and backdoor scheme in MariaDB in order to steal and hack account information for millions of sites around the world.

Proofs? or you are just another troll.

How does F# compare with Ruby? Ruby code is so compact!

As compact. Most of type errors will shift to compile time, instead of blowing during runtime. Profit.

F# is basically OCAML with C# interop, AFAK

I've wasted too much time on take-home interviews. I'll never do one again. All the contracts I've ever gotten never required one.

I liked Kin-Dza-Dza http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2659374/ and the remake.

It, and a bunch of other Soviet movies are available on the Mosfilm channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/mosfilm

two versions of "It's hard to be a God" (in Russian) one from 1989, another from 2013:

The final scene in 1989 movie is clearly influenced by Dune (1984).

Likeiwse it's clear that this movie influenced modern American/Canadian Sci-Fi series like Stargate Atlantis [1] and Defiance [2]. I.e. both Wraith and Votan look like noblemen from "It's hard to be a God" (1989).

You (and others) might enjoy Alex Andreev's work - very clearly inspired by the Kin Dza Dza aesthetic. He also has a lot of stuff that's pretty clearly inspired by Picnic/Stalker.

I saw the original, but I wasn't impressed. It was too plain and gloomy for me.
