The use of unit characters in Unicode is not recommended by the consortium, they mostly exist for compatibility with Asian encodings. The recommendation is to use the Latin letter and the degree sign.

Seems like CM-1 and CM-2 show CPU activity, so each light blinked when a CPU did something. Those were the ones that were designed by Tamiko Thiel.
Then, CM-5 did have the option of having "artistic" or "random patterns" on it, apparently designed or co-designed by Maya Lin. IIRC, the CM-5 is the one appearing in Jurassic Park.
I don't know if is there any firmware code or hardware design available to check how that function worked. Maybe the people from the Computer History Museum knows something. They have the first CM-1 and have at least one CM-5.

It's not only about destruction. It's also about reliability. Without proper shielding and error correction you're going to have lots and lots of reliability issues and data corruption. And if we're talking about AI and given the current reliability problems of the Nvidia hardware, plus the radiation, plus the difficulty for refrigerating all that stuff on space... That's a big problem. And we still haven't started to talk about the energy generation.
I think there's a very interesting use case on edge computing (edge of space, if you wanna make the joke) that in fact some satellites are already doing, were they preprocess data before sending back to Earth. But datacenter-power-level computing is not even near.
I have no idea and numbers to back it up, but I feel it would be even easier to set up a Moon datacenter than an orbital datacenter (when talking about that size of datacenter)
Keep in mind that the current state of space electronics is centered around one-off very expensive launches, where the electronics failure would be a fiscal disaster. (See JWST)
Being able to rapidly launch cheap electronics may very well change the whole outlook on this.
People already do that (launch cheap, redundant, unshielded electronics) for LEO, but sounds like these data centers would pretty explicitly not be in LEO.
Also AI GPUs are the exact opposite of cheap electronics
When managing your infrastructure as code, it’s quite common to deploy new instances for upgrades etc. Having these keys expire after 3 months is a big pain. Eg doing a routine update by rebuilding an AMI.
I don’t understand how they can have such a strategy, and then not having any decent way to programmatically allocate new keys.
This can all be automated using e.g. the Terraform Tailscale provider, which takes the OAuth id/secret and can then issue keys as needed for the infrastructure you are deploying.
You run a Docker container on another machine and configure Immich to point to its IP address. I do that when I have to add a lot of photos or reingest all the photos with a different model, so I point to the "gaming" that has a 3060.
