How I read it: take strs, filter the strings that contain "LOL", turn them into upper case and then sort them. Basically it reads the same as the pipeline example in the README.
Most JavaScript libraries end with .js: Angular.js, Ember.js, Backbone.js, Knockout.js... And yes, JavaScript is a mainstream language (in the browser, at least).

So, no, unless someone posts a link to a live stream you can watch with VLC, this won't work on any non-Apple device (even with QuickTime).
Debian does move slowly (that's why it is good for servers; you don't have to update often) but you probably need to update your server. On Debian Wheezy, I have got Vim 7.3.547.
Edit: and no, it wouldn't be available to Debian Squeeze users, since it is served as an update to Wheezy users and not as a separate package (even if it was, it would have been made available only to Wheezy).
